Asunto: Australia Cup
Well done ranges.
Always nice to thrash an old tormentor like Tong :)

Got away with another week of full training. The trainees have been doing the business so far.

I was very happy to see my reserves score a 65 rating. My trainees are pretty mature at the moment. I'm only a few form pops away from having a whole squad of players worth over $1M

If you make the cup final, will you go 2nd's in the league ;).
If you hadn't of finally got some decent players, I would have been tempted. As it stands, I will play my reserves in the Cup Final assuming some rubbish team with no strikers makes it through ;)
Wow. That must easily take the award for most 1 sided Australian Cup semi-finals of all time.
I never thought I could take my reserves all the way through to the final. The way they are playing, they could probably beat TMP too! They played some really nice tikka-takka tonight in their stacked midfield and with the chances they created, Gian was brutally efficient. Wrapped up the game with a hattrick inside of the first 14 minutes.

Would be pretty close. It's been a long time since we've had just 2 strong teams. We've usually had 2 strong teams with a few other really solid teams getting through.
Good luck for the final. Next season should hopefully have a little more competition if I get my act together with training up my next generation.

Does anyone else target the Aus Cup?
Ever since I started in sokker, I had the Aus Cuo as a main goal. It was always my chance to punch above my weight and try to cause as many upsets as possible with 1st XI and custom tactics.
I still think a Cup title is just as appealing as an A-League title. And it's open to everyone in any league.
To walk through with mainly reserves this season is a bit of a shame. I was expecting more competition.

The Cup is almost as important as the league to me. But I always used it for training until I thought I could win it.

yeah i didnt target the cup this year due to my precarious position on the ladder in the a-league. going to have to lift my game to even stay in.
just wish i had played my reserve keeper!!!

I went through a period after winning my first cup title where I didn't really go for the cup but then I worked out ways around that with the introduction of the champions cup and went on a pretty neat streak in consecutive cup victories. Winning the cup use to give the place to the champions cup almost every time by the halfway point of the season, so if you didn't happen to win the league, you at least had already qualified. That led to me taking the cup much more seriously and I still value the cup for that reason.
edit: Speaking of which, I'll have to update that FAQ with league and cup winners. It must be about 5-6 seasons out of date.

Congrats on the cup win vivski.
I had a key injury to a defender on the weekend and I decided to go all out tactically with an old skool crazy tactic. I'm a bit disappointed in the end with a role reversal from last year with Gian missing a one on one in the 87th minute to take it to extra time. Derince missed his first penalty since coming to our team. TMP scored a long range goal that seemed to go through Elrich's legs.

An 11th hour TL gamble paid off. Makes a difference having 2 strikers.
I thought my chance was gone when Priestly was injured and missed the pen. But we still managed to create the chances to get enough goals. I didn't think 2 goals would be enough.
Bit unlucky, uber. It was a very even game and refreshing to have an attacking game from both teams. My winger had some rare space, but your wingers posed a great threat at the other end, with Harries cutting in.
In a season of transition, to pick up another Cup is a great bonus. And another chapter in the SFvTMP rivalry.
