Asunto: [U21] Hurricane
I no longer have plus either, so no longer have access to the U21 forum.
Greg Van Egmond [18362831]
Owen Kelly [19336934]
may I have their current skills? First one does not exist in our DB and second one was updated few months ago.
I set defence line, mid line and now there is a problem: we DO NOT have winger itself, it would be nice if Corey Harries trained PASSING, otherwise I see only Tucker on the wing, who is slow on the other hand :/

May have to think about playing a tactic that doesn't include a winger
You'll never get pace, tech and passing at the required level at U21. From my post in the U21 forum:
A good winger with low passing still provides field position, corners and will still set up goals for strikers. Hirons + Harries will be the same as when we played Barnes + Griffiths up front for 2 seasons. It worked very well with a midfield stacked with good defenders and a solid backline + GK which we will have the next 2 seasons.
Harries won't get passing anytime soon, but he will have ridiculus pace and tech by the end of next season. He picked up an assist in the last U21 game, so he's not doing too bad :)

ahhh, good ol' griffiths, wonder how he's doing right now? and for a pretty good (imho) wingerless formation, you only need to look at mine :P
Tactic without any winger is bad in my opinion. It would be good only if we have 2 great attackers. And to be honest, neither Butler, nor Hirons (low form) won't play well due to low tech compared to other 21y attackers :(
And, referring to your plan if it comes to Harries: 20y MID/WING without passing is useless :P
I could accept very good/excellent passing but not good.. Thank god he is only 20y and has nice pace already :)
I will test both Tucker and Harries in the first match on the wing.

yeh true that and you need quality throughout the midfield and backline to really pull off a wingless tactic well.... especially midfielders who can find the holes and strikers who can break the tackles. just ask any team in the a-league who's played me, i'm sure they can relate really well to that, especially cometer :P
I am happy because def formation is solid and 3 midfielders above have high defence skill too! What I am worried about is Tucker/Harries on the wing and Butler as forward :/ It may result in low offensive force, but our goal is heavy guarded.
I would have paid much for 3xoutstanding-left-side winger and similar att :P
Important issue: I have some matches U20 set. That will be a huge problem because we have only 21y, few 20y, some nice 19y and 18y. We lack 20y olds! Scout for them! :)
All in all I already like this job! Thanks guys for votes :)

Mate, never say what tactic are you going to use etc. Delete this post. Not always, but usually opponents will check this forum and see how are you going to play...:)
Ok :) But it changes simply nothing. They do not know anything about the exact positioning of players. It is only friendly match btw.
I will edit it anyway.

You'd be surprised what people can find out from even just a general statement. You need to be careful to not even give them a rough idea.

That's not necessarily my view. Placement of players goes a long way and it's very possible to score without using a winger even with weaker strikers. Obviously each has his own opinion but playing a winger every game is also a bad option as sides just stick a defender against the wings and any attack you have is gone. I'm not saying not to use a winger, I'm just saying not to rule out never using a winger.

Imho it's a must to have both a working non-winger tactic [532/541 are my favourites] and a winger tactic. The opponent must not know what he's going to face ;).
I will create both of them surely. We will see on Friday what to expect. Thanks guys for your advice.
We got poor results last U21 season because we didnt' have an attacking weapon. No winger and no super awesome striker is hard to deal with!
Mate instead of complaining about what we don't have (or don't have up to the standards you would like), which will ultimately lead to excuses for any loses, I would concentrate on how you will beat our opposition with what we do have.
Just remember, we are not one of the biggest nations, so what you may say is our weakness, could actually pretty decent for our size and our ranking. Borkos talked you up as someone who would make a good U21 manager, which is ultimately why we voted for you, don't let Borkos down as he is the highest respected non Australian member of our community, with all the work he has done for us.
I believe that if you try, and have some tactical prowess, you can win almost all the matches you have lined up this season, so concentrate on some good tactics, and you'd be surprised what those players can achieve
