Just be thankful Ronzon is out, and you only have to put up with Huxley as my 3rd striker
PPHHHHEEEEWWWWW!
Perfect first 20mins with 3 goals up and then the horrible run home to sneak is over the line 3-2. Defensive setup was good. 2 penalties was a nightmare. Elrich earned his money for sure.

if that was a game of hit the woodwork, i'd be in double digits......

Not much I can really do when my best mid is out of the game and then my next best mid gets sent off along with one of my defenders either side of half time. 4-0 loss would be somewhat respectable from that point of view.. Another season in div 2 it is then... Gonna need to hit a bunch more goals to get the AP spot!
Ideally, you need more depth in midfield and attack, then you'll be ready to come back to the A League. Can't wait to see you back and firing.

2nd that. Frogs belong in the top league.
Congrats to the winners. Another good A-League season coming up.

I may have to re think what I am training.. I currently am training defenders and my defence is generally pretty solid.. but I need to be in the top leagues to be able to buy the better players.. I am continually losing money each fortnight due to not being able to sell the stadium out.
I've kind of suspected that, especially given the ability to set ticket prices, playing weaker opposition regularly doesn't help much whereas playing long serving teams with large fan bases helps significantly.
At the lower leagues I think you have to rely on picking as many trainees from your own youth school as possible and then picking a few off the transfer market and build up that way. Difficult if your youth school isn't producing though.

It'd be nice with more depth in div 2 but just doesn't seem to be the inerest...no strength at the top....so very hard to fill stadium at any time.
Without shock results, I daresay not much competition next season again....I think I'll risk getting rid of some aging topliners, which should save me around 80-100k in wages.

That's the way. Cull the olds. Promote the youngsters. Draft in some new trainees. And ride the highway to promotion. :)

Im doing the same. Removing the some of the old and getting the young players in. My team is an aging team

My mentality when I demoted was that any player over 25yo - who was not necessary for my team to win trophies - was a depreciating asset. Sometimes you can promote younger players and still get 3pt each game. Then by the time you're back in the business of qualifying, your team is fresh and your budget able to cover a new GK or striker.
That's how I did it when I was bounced out of A-League anyway. Some teams keep the olds to fight for AP... but that leaves them in a weaker position when they actually promote.

1st week in new season will see my best winger & my attacking mf go...they'll be 29 & 28 respectively....will keep the other front line mf (will be 28)....but leaves me very skinny in mf.
Could very well leave it at that rather than replace them....see how youths go.
Also toying with letting Patterson go...he'll be 27 & taking up training spots....possibly Williams as well....my best 2 Aus players....will be tough to let go.

Not always. I came back better for it in the end and have finished 2nd and 1st respectively. Mind you I probably had a team that should never have relegated in the first place and had financial support that I could survive 1 season of losses.
In general though, it's a decision each team has to decide themselves and if it takes longer than a season to get back up, it's probably worth passing the older players on.

Just wanted to point out that I promoted with the 3rd youngest squad in Australia at 21.8. Although padded with some 18 year olds to be sold at the start of next season after some stamina. My first team had 2 27yr olds and the rest were 25 or under. I've always played this game with the long term in mind and always put training and financial growth before short term results.
