Good summary, although I thought Hazlewood's dropped catch might have swung it NZ's way at the time. In the end, it was under control a long way out. :)

So Australia wins their first T20 WC. But you have to feel sorry for NZ, they have won just 1 final of the 3 they managed in different formats in the last 3 years. Still pretty impressive, might be the best team in the world currently.
You know it’s sad when the MVP of the tournament was the coin toss. Sometimes I wonder if finals should be best of 2/3 where each side bats first once then of a third game is used another coin toss or a super over happens after the 2nd. The only real way any side stood a chance of winning batting first in Dubai was if they made 200.

Nah I’m not too disappointed in nz losing, they did recently win the world test championship which one can debate Australia should have been there were it not for covid interruptions to 2 of our series. They kill us in rugby instead every year so I think crickets a fair trade off. However, their turn will come. Think they really missed Conway overnight though.

Amazing work by Australia, thoroughly deserved and made sure they came in to form during the business end of the tournament.
As much as I say whomever batted second would win, neither NZ or Aus were in a position to win their SF, but both had an incredible last minute knock by someone to get them home, which would have skewed the results closer to even.
It was interesting during the presentations to see both the BCCI president and Ganguly looking more disappointed with the result than the NZers.
And cometer is right about the WTC, sure the impacted covid series could have made a difference, but the big one was Australia being docked points for a slow over rate by our own Aussie umpire, just because the aussie umpires have integrity, even if it means affecting our own national team. Slow over rates have been an issue world wide, in most matches, and every series, but this was the only time anyone lost WTC points due to it.
Anyway, the best test team did win, so I'm not too disappointed, but they have had their celebration, time for Australia to have theirs :D
And now that trophy achievement has been ticked off, we can go back to watching test cricket and ODIs

Ganguly is the BCCI president. And why would he be disappointed with who won? He would've been disappointed if Pakistan were to win this tournament. And frankly, once India got knocked out followed by Pakistan, most Indians didn't care who won. They were fine either way.

Ok so there was another BCCI guy with Ganguly then, just must have misheard his position.
Why would he be disappointed? Not sure, think that's up to the individual to decide why, but it was a comment made on what I could see in the telecast. I made no assumptions as to the reason, just that was the look they had on their faces

Re-watched it, the guys title was "honorary secretary of the BCCI" - Jay Shah
I don't want to interrupt your interesting dialogue, just didn't find any other topic to share:
May also look like losing his password to the 1st team considering the mislog and making another team due to that. If not, it can end not so positively.

And now it's almost time for our biggest rivalry and greatest series in test cricket...The Ashes.
Can. Not. Wait.
It's all that's getting me through exams, knowing The Ashes are just on the other side of it all

Ganguly had history with the Aussies (not sure if that still holds), but no doubt scars can linger. :)
I'd expect he was pulling for the Kiwis.....even if it came down to who India see as their biggest rivals as far as top dog goes....it's likely to be Oz all day long over the Pakistan (more like a derby rivalry), NZ, or any other team.

Ganguly certainly got that aggressive mentality into the Indian team where India started performing better and better overseas. And yes, there was a little rivalry in Ganguly's playing days, I remember Steve Waugh or some Aussie captain calling India as the 'final frontier' when Ganguly was captain. But from Ganguly's viewpoint, it's been years now and I don't think it really matters to him that much now.

Yes, there has been a lot of Aus-India rivalry but it's still respectful if you compare it to India-Pakistan rivalry (even though India defeats Pakistan a lot). Just to give you an example: Indian fans will be fine if we lose against Australia but they will hate it if India loses against Pakistan. So even if Australia is a better competitor for India, emotions are very high during the India-Pakistan game. Much like the Ashes (Aus-Eng) rivalry but more intense in many ways.

Was just trying to be honest, and self aware and letting you know so you knew the angle I was coming from. But that's ok, I'll see myself out
