Why ?!!! You guys don't want to hear anything from us anyway.
Can you honestly say the results of these 'polls' won't be fudged? I won't be wasting my time. :)

Yeah I feel you mate. I've certainly explained my position on this. No need for me to vote either

There's plenty to like in the new look on the recent update.
You can not like the direction of certain elements and still provide positive feedback on things like updated screen layouts etc.

I think the point fantum is making is, we have already seen that previous poll "results" are in direct opposition of what the actual community wants (as shown by polls in forums and the discussion shown), and somehow show different results to both in game polls, country wide surveys undertaken by users, forum feedback and lets not forget that most small countries (45/58) didn't even know there were previous votes or changes coming like is the case with large countries having it all stated in their forum.
The polls are purely the illusion of a choice, when in fact the results are predetermined.
So whilst I agree with your sentiment in general, we are saying that there is no point in the feedback if it opposes what the plan is anyway, because it will make no difference.

Yep, nothing like holding a poll post election/result. It won't lead to a rethink, nor will it lead to a change, as decisions are set. :)
Given this is being done supposedly by a UX designer I don’t think you can pidgeon hole this because of the bad experience of the league structure polls, but I can’t tell you what to believe (nor would I want to). They were poorly executed. It may and probably will turn out the poll is meaningless (most are anyway in anything) but we don’t know that for absolute certain. On the other hand you do know for certain that if no one responds to these types of polls then you’ll never get change you want. Personally I’d take a 1% chance over 0% but others are free to make their own decisions. At the very least your opinions at least get to be looked over whether the devs take up on them is up to them.

Polls for these sorts of things are crowd-sourced brainstorming.
If you think software development or game design gets done by democracy then you're going to be disappointed. Someone will be the product/game owner or designer, and what they say is what will happen. How wide or not they choose to collaborate with others will be entirely up to them. Its then up to the marketing/sales team to convince people why their decisions are wonderful and/or is what the community always wanted.

Yup I do agree with you there, and a company can only be as successful as how good the captain of the ship is, and no matter how good the idea, if the captain is rubbish, they can kill it very quick.
It's sad to see they decide sub-optimal ways forward, but it is their choice, I just wish they'd be more transparent about it rather than trying to convince us we have a say, and causing a lot of disappointment community wide, which then results in people leaving due to dissatisfaction.
I think the game is toast anyway in todays environment, but it's a shame they aren't even going to try to put up a fight by giving the community what it wants (leading to increased word of mouth advertising)

Unless you have an amazing marketing/sales strategy/team, but yeah the less you get from the top the more you need from the rest.

These kinds of browser games have been blown away by properly funded fully developed games for pc/consoles. Browser games in general are a dying species, especially sports management related ones. There's just too many better and established games/brands out there that do more then sokker does (and can never expect to do) as they have superior budgets and development teams.

I guess it does mirror RL in a lot of ways as with polls & published results, the masses feel like they're having a say, their voice is heard & they're somewhat appeased when they see their opinion & thoughts are in line with that of the majority.
As with life, this often leads to bugger all happening.

Latest update talks about those "Cunning" Linguists....
...I'll get my coat, shall I ?!! :)

Not sure I believe linguists should get free plus unless something has changed as sure they contribute to the game but far less than what mods and admins are required to. Good thing it’s not my decision.
Agreed. They don't do a lot, but than I don't mind who does and does not receive free plus. In the end it's the DEVs bottom line that is affected, not me :D
Explains a lot about some decisions that have been made if linguists are getting more pull than others, given who some of them are

Linguists do a huge work, even more these days. For a long time being mod o admin was really "easy" cause the game was half abandoned, nothing to do with the good old times when we had loads of work and 1000+ post to read every day. Anyways in my opinion any work deserves a payment, so is ok if someone get Plus if he help to develop or maintain the game in any way.
You probably don't mind who gets o not the plus. But I see it like of devs to do an effort to try keep the updated.

I'm sure there are some good linguists out there that put in a lot of effort. I guess I'm basing my comment on my experiences from back in the days in like mid 2000's when I was one of the English speaking moderators. There were some good ones for sure, but a lot of it ended up translating to English first which is where the most amount of time went because often the English was written like a second language and often needed English moderators to tidy it up prior to any further translation. I can't recall who the English linguists were (if they were separate then the English language moderators or not).
I guess I just felt that admins and mods ended up doing more work. Then some of admins/mods also assisted with the translation to English which is I guess what shapes my view. If they still use the same forums, there's probably plenty of comments I've made still lying around over the years :)
I have no knowledge of what goes on now obviously and we are receiving more news from devs then we've ever had before (still have serious concerns/issues about what ends up being developed and would really like some changes to help smaller nations as it was a problem before but an even bigger problem now due to time and compounding effects of being disadvantaged for such a long time). That being said, perhaps there is more work then there once was for linguists but that must be a relatively recent thing as it wasn't always like that.
