Well if they kept your own forum say Sokker Australia that would be less of an issue. We would likely lose say the specific league forum though. Similarly if we kept our national page with rankings/cup draw etc I think we’d be ok. Ultimately, if we merge the reality is many of us would be in different leagues to each other. That being said there’s a good chance many of us will be in the same division.

The new training rules are said to be implemented in season 61 (less probable) or 62. It's gonna take longer than expected. I don't know if it influences any of you but when it comes to what I think: 'frankly, I don't give a damn' :)

Thanks mate. Let's watch this blow out to yet another season.

Vampyr para achmid
I'd like to remind you not to list any of your players deadlining this weekend. There are some upgrades expected which may, and almost 100% will, cause technical issues. If you're planning on selling someone valuable, I'd recommend postponing.

So the new training system is as follows:

*MAIN CHANGES:
- we see quite a few new elements, some of them are used to set up our training, and some of them are auxiliary and informative.
- first of all, we have three new sections, which are, together with the new rules, described below.

* TRAINING PLANNING:
- the first of these is used for assigning the type of training for a particular formation.
- you can assign one type of training to each formation: GK, DEF, MID, ATT.
- it is possible to assign the same type of training to several formations.
- this allows us to train between 1 and 4 different skills each week, depending on the choices made in this menu.

* ADVANCED TRAINING:
- we have 10 slots available where we can assign players to complete advanced training.
- this training will be the most similar in effect to the current training, however, you will gain more flexibility and have more influence on raising the effectiveness of the training.
- each player selected in this section has to be assigned to a formation with which he will train during the week. Based on this assignment, the player will receive a training type that is the same as the one you assigned in the planning window.
- the more games and minutes a player plays in a week with the given formation (GK, DEF, MID, ATT), the more effective the training will be.
- the order in which games are played with different orders does not matter, all minutes from the indicated formation will count.
- it is also possible to select a player who has not played in a week, but his training efficiency will be significantly lower.
- the effectiveness can be additionally increased by playing in a national team match or if your team played against better opponents.
- to make things easier, one of the columns will show the approximate efficiency - this will help you manage the progress of your players.

* GENERAL TRAINING:
- in this section, we see players who have not been selected for advanced training.
- the general training rules will be very similar to the current rules for players who did not fit into the training schedule that week.
- as with advanced training, we can influence the effectiveness of general training by assigning players to a formation.
- the more matches and minutes a player plays in a given formation, the more effective the overall training will be.
- players who have not played in any matches during the week will not receive any general training.
- as in the previous section, you get columns with information about minutes played and approximate efficiency.

OTHER INFORMATION
- it is not planned to change the day on which the training will take place.
- the implementation date of the changes stays the same and is expected to be at the beginning of next season.

As usual with SK announcements, the detail is muddy and possibly lost in translation. Am I right in assuming above where they use the word 'formation', they actually mean 'position'? Is that how everyone else is interpreting it?

With these changes, how are people thinking they might set up their training regime?

Discuss!

Yes formation is basically the same as position. From what I gather we get to choose a training skill for each formation (GK, DEF, MID, ATT) from which all players who play in those formations will receive more general training (similar to how general training works at present). We also get to then custom assign 10 players for specific advanced training that is then mapped to one of those 4 training formations and they will receive advanced training (similar to primary training currently) in that skill that is assigned to that formation so long as they play with those orders.

What it means though is if you want to play 3 strikers as ATT but one needs pace the other striker, then you'd probably have to set the ATT formation to striker and MID formation to pace and play the striker that needs pace as a MID (kind of like how we have to do that to maximise tech training for strikers now). However, instead of having potentially just one formation messed around for training, it may now mean the whole lineup is messed around if you haven't got your ducks in a row for training synergies.

As for my own thoughts, I think this introduction could go either way here.

We can theoretically train 10 players now, which is an improvement on what we had except for pace trainers.

I suspect this is going to be hamstrung to how much you can afford a good head coach as you'll need unearthly skills in every area you're training. That may result in some of us not being able to afford to do that and so may be restricted from having free access.

For those that can afford it, this may result in not having to rely so much on the TL and you can invest more into youth school for your own pulls.

The TL could go either way. I suspect though there will be less talent on the TL for younger players and the few that are, prices will rise. Meanwhile, I'm unsure which way standard players will go.

Our NT may be able to become relatively stronger as well as we could theoretically turn a player into who we needed them to, e.g a keeper into a proper keeper and could be less susceptible on people buying up players only to kill them off by not really training them. Then again, it may not be a big deal if other sides do the same thing (though I expect our NT may benefit more if we work together to grow it).

The main red flags for me that has me concerned is

1) Friendlies are being looked at being nerfed for training effectiveness, forcing league games to become training games (which I think goes against the idea of the game). To be forced to choose between training losses and short term success on field, it could actually be more harmful then productive. Will need to be able to work out what the percentages are for certain things before this will become clearer.

2) There seems to be at least some element where playing "stronger" teams results in more efficient training. Whilst we don't know yet what this means or how much it is, it doesn't take much thinking to realise however it's sliced, it's going to make us worse off because of existing issues with smaller countries.

If it's tied to ranking we're disadvantaged because we can't get as much ranking into our leagues as we have bots and inactives.
If it's tied to avg league ratings we're disadvantaged because we can't access the transfer market at peak times and our revenue is unfairly distributed because all revenue is tied to supporter sizes.
If it's tied to what I believe it will end up being (that being supporter sizes) then we're really stuffed. Supporter sizes currently determine league prestige, which determines sponsorship ranges, supporter expectations which impact supporter mood and hence things like gate receipts and sponsorship again, supporter sizes themselves because the amount of supporters we get each week is based around supporter mood and some function of league supporter sizes. Lower supporter sizes, results in less income from gate receipts. Basically, everything financial from a revenue perspective we're already hit by, at least training wasn't so we could improve on some of those other measures. Now, seems like it may be possible to be hit on that side too (regardless of how small a difference it makes, it will still be a disadvantage). It's like telling one person a pie costs $2.50 and another it's $2.55 for the same pie (that's using a 1% price difference and rounding to the nearest 5c).

It won't be a flat rate like that, but there would have to be a comparison to say the higher the # supporters the opposition side has (which we already are disadvantaged by) the more training you receive (unless it's a comparison between your own fans and who you play). In that case it's then unfair to anyone at the top of their league or the longest serving players, which still improportionately disadvantages small nations that have bots that don't grow fan bases.

Rant aside, I'm hopeful it will turn out ok in the end and if they add in a way to prop up your junior school to produce more reliable talent estimates down the road to (as they've announced they will do at some point), then it may be possible to build a side that can semi compete even with all our disadvantages/handicaps. I am quite concerned a bit though it won't be what we really need because well since when has anything been a good move for us.

In terms of training, I'm sitting on a few players I'm eagerly awaiting to see their skills in the coming weeks and that may shape where I go. I suspect I'll be striker heavy though.
Crampton
Greenwood
Panopoulos
Zillman

Then I have to consider what I do with Marth, Mairou, Massenbach, Svendstrup, Kornelius (strikers) and also Krushkov, Van Rijn (midfielders)

I also have to consider junior pulls coming up as well.

So something like
Crampton
Greenwood
Panopoulos
Zillman
Svendstrup
Kornelius

are probably the main 6 and I'll look at my options to offload the remaining strikers.

Then I may have 1-2 more slots to Ponting (GK) and Renaud who are probably the 2 biggest prospects I have in juniors atm and see what they end up with before deciding on them.

Between now and end of season I probably need to look for the rest to fill for a completion of 10. However, I do need to assess how much it's going to cost me for a coach to be able to train all that and GK levels are the most expensive to pay.

As you say, they have managed to find a way to screw us over again but through training, which was one of the few things unaffected by country size.

This will in essence create an even bigger divide between big and small countries as large countries will have an advantage no matter how it is brought in to effect. If it is by league prestige as I also suspect, then many big nations will have multiple leagues of people who get faster training, than even our best trainer will be.

Screwed by sokker again. This time for server issues but matches still go ahead. I have no idea how I was even able to get a draw given my side was 2nd/3rd strings but would have preferred using my 1st XI to try to win.

Hope they rerun matches so to enough notice but given the site is back before Europe league games I’m banking on nothing being done.

So if you weren’t already plan for the new training system for this upcoming season. Looks like it’s going to come in midway through this next season. For those unsure have a read over the dev news #63 on either the sokker dev forum or the pressroom. Important you understand it as much as one can prior to it starting and you are ready for the change. Even more so if you’re training NT players. Good thing they appear to have dropped the bonus training for playing stronger opponents entirely so that’s finally a neutral result for small nations instead of a step backwards.

I can't see info with regards to new training in the pressroom. The latest news in the pressroom is dated 11th May and I don't want to go through all the pages in the Sokker Dev forum lol

Same here.
2022-06-17 09:26:00
Weird. I saw it when I posted it but maybe it has since been removed (or else there’s a bug between mobile v desktop). In any case it’s definitely there in the sokker dev forum from a month or two ago but has since been confirmed to mostly operate that way. They will put out updated info when it’s released but it won’t be start of season and may be a few weeks in.

They have posted update on the new training.

Dev Diary 64: The final touches to the training reform.
struś 2022-06-17
Work on the training reform is slowly coming to an end.
The main programming changes have been completed and are currently being tested on the test server.

Before the changes can be implemented on the main server, the interface to the new training needs to be tweaked and the long-term development of the players tested. We need to make sure that the changes do not cause anomalies in the game and do not upset its balance.
This work will take a few more weeks, which means that the changes will come into effect during the season, we estimate it will be the third or fourth week.
We have decided that it is better to do more work before the changes are implemented in order to minimise the number of adjustments on the main server once they are available, which could affect the stability of the game.
The changes will be preceded by an announcement and will take place after a full training cycle, after one of Thursday's updates.

After that, we will work on adapting the training reports to the new rules. This may take another couple of weeks but will not cause any further delay.

Regarding the questions asked during the season. The rules described in Dev Diary #63 will still apply, but after listening to your feedback and reconsidering, we have removed the training bonus for playing against a stronger opponent.

We hope the changes will meet your expectations!
