Hi there,
When I change the tactic 'Basic or additional' it doesn't change the squad setup or the graphic to represent the new formation. What am I doing wrong?

'Basic' is the tactic that you will play when you start the match. You will continue to play this tactic unless you choose to change it during the match.

'Additional' is an alternate tactic that you can switch to during the match if you set a conditional order under the 'Orders' option.

For example, let's say I create two different tactics called Tactic A which I select as my 'Basic' (let's say this is a 4.4.2) and Tactic B which I select as my 'Additional' (which is a 4.3.3). I could set an order for the match (Orders > Tactic Swap) that says:
After <60mins>, if I'm <drawing or losing> switch to <Additional Tactic>
...and my team will now play with Tactic B

Good information around tactics thanks.

What I mean is if I create a tactic and then go to a fixture of a match and change to that tactic the graphic doesn't update to represent that tactic nor does squad setup.

Or is the image representing the tactic/formation just useless?
When you change basic tactic it doesn't update 2 below or for that matter 3?

#2 The image represents the average position each player is in the tactic you have selected. Not the starting positions when the ball is in the centre of the pitch ready for kickoff.
#3 selecting a tactic makes no change to 3. You need to update positions and players. eg: In your image you'd logically set players 2,3,5 as your DEF. But that doesn't mean you can't also set 7 or 4 or any other player as DEF depending on how you want to play tactically.

ok, thanks for clearing that up.

Yeah just be wary if you’ve made a new tactic that you need to complete for all 30 odd squares and not just the centre one. Then you should notice a difference in average positioning if your tactic is any different from the default ones. I agree with everything agbell has said here also.
