I've decided I will run for elections this season.
I've been playing 5 seasons of Sokker now, about to start my 6th, and have been taking a keen interest on the national team.
My achievements in Sokker in the 5 season period have been:
1 time A League champion
1 time Australia Cup Winner
1 time Australia Cup Runner-up
1 time Australia Cup Semi-Finalist
Reasons why you might want to vote for me:
- I'm a dedicated user and spend quite a large amount of time on Sokker and would find time to dedicate to managing an NT side.
- I feel like I'm a fairly decent tactician, definitely not the world's best but will improve with every match and will guarantee I will have a serious think every match about the best approach to the game.
- Easy to talk to person who enjoys new challenges and is always prepared to listen to pretty much everything including criticism.
Possible reasons why you might not want to vote for me:
- Unproven. I've never managed an NT before but would love the chance, whilst there are other managers who have managed an NT before.
- I’m an Australian user which would mean I would be competing against some of you in the league and I would most likely have to know the NT player skills if I am elected. I consider myself honest enough that I wouldn’t abuse this privilege in any form.
My major goals would be to firstly try and qualify for the world cup, and secondly to keep interest in the NT high by various methods which have been successful in the past. I would also be prepared to listen to comments from any user who feels there is something I could do / could have done better and suggestions would always be welcome.
I have no idea how I will go since I’ve never attempted this before and so I can’t guarantee anything apart from the fact I would give 100% effort and wouldn’t quit midway through a season.
Ultimately it comes down to who Australian users want and I'll quite happily accept any decision and/or questions.
Cheers.

You forgot to add in the pro's that you have access to the Mod button ;)
Good luck to you though!

Good to see an Aussie running.
I wonder if any of the other candidates would be interested in having an Australian under-study (should you not win yourself this season).

Ok, to start questions off;
We have seen Borkos implement U/19s, U21's O/23's, Competition games to improve interest in the NT. This I believe has been very sucessful (unlike my spelling teacher), at gaining interest from even 4th leaguers.
What strategies will you implement this season to try and gain more interest in Nt (whether it be working on current members on sokker, or bringing more members to Sokker in Australia of which some % will be interested in NT games)

I would try to use a number of strategies to try and maximise user interest. Some of the things I would do would be fairly similar to what has already been successful like competition games and different formats such as U21's etc where I'd be trying to interest a wide range of users rather than just users which have major NT players. Also I would be looking to communicate before and after match ideas and would try to encourage users to express ideas regarding the match as to what went well , what didn't go well etc as I'd be trying to getting users active and to treat the NT as if their input actually means something and isn't meaningless.
Assuming I can achieve those then I would obviously have accomplished one of my major goals and by increasing/maintaining the user interest it should help produce a stronger community and a stronger national side.
I hope this answers your question.

I didn't forget. I deliberately chose not to mention it as I didn't want that to be an influencing factor for being selected as the NT manager. :)

Good to see you running for NT manager. You're a very good manager indeed. Best of luck.
What aids/tools do you use when devising tactics and strategies? Do you think you'll be able to use the same tools when deciding who to play in what role in NT games?
One potential problem we have is Australian players moving overseas, being forgotten and possibly not getting the training they need. What will you do to prevent this situation from arising? How would you keep tabs on players who do go and play overseas?

There's no such problem at all. I'm contacting owners about the training needed for players, also most owners want to know what should they train to get their player to NT.
I also check the transfer list to check if there's a NT prospect that isn't in database.
I guess cometer, or whoever will win the election, will do the same.

Lol, answer your own questions borkos! :P
I know what you do to stop the problem and it's very effective. I want to know if cometer would do the same or maybe have some other means.

Aaahh, I've just thought that you think, that this problem does exist at the moment. :)
Do you think you could get more votes than i did last time i tried for AUS NT? :P

Without giving too much away here there are a number of strategies I use. Some involve watching opponents matches / manager's club matches (could give an idea of likely formation/s not necessarily the tactic itself), also I would think it important to know what your own team can and can't do. So looking into your own strengths and weaknesses is another aspect of which I tend to do when designing tactics.
I'd hope that I would be able to use this same approach to the NT game and that it would have a rather useful effect.
That is certainly one potential problem I had been thinking about before applying for the position. I would always ask the user (if they don't approach me first) about the possible training plan for that particular player. If a player wasn't getting trained there's not really a lot I can do apart from perhaps ask and encourage the user to train them but in the end I don't have the power or the right to force them to train them, although usually I'd suspect, particularly in younger players, that they would be receiving training of some sort.
Also I would be more than willing to take any questions regarding training issues and try to give the user a decent answer.
As for keeping an eye on players well I'd imagine we've got a fairly strong player list/database already in action and I'd be inclined to continue to keep it that way. I'd monitor them on a frequent basis to check they haven't moved hands and update accordingly. I'd also keep checking things like the transfer list for any players which have potential and may have slipped through unnoticed or have only recently been pulled and sold.
Thanks for the questions.

Interesting question :P. I'd be hoping I could as I don't believe I'd be elected if I got less as there would be around another 40-50 votes still for other candidates (assuming we have around 50% of users vote) but that's for the Australian community to decide :).
