Interesting question :P. I'd be hoping I could as I don't believe I'd be elected if I got less as there would be around another 40-50 votes still for other candidates (assuming we have around 50% of users vote) but that's for the Australian community to decide :).

It's good to see a capable Australian run for the post, best of luck - a couple of suggestions :

zero / limited cap matches have been quite popular in England, it gets the interest of managers who have "2nd stream" players for a given age group, who you need to be trained to give your squad strength in depth

If I win, and with resorting to thimbles to keep my thread alive I'd find it unlikely, I'd be more than happy to take on an understudy. I've found that use of msn remote assistance has been useful to me in the past in discussion of tactics with other top-end English managers, and would be more than happy for discussions on this line to take place with an understudy such as yourself.

Edit : Oh, and regarding knowing the skills of your competitors, there are 3 scouts in England, and the NT coach has always been English, and there are very rarely problems with knowing skills. It's one thing knowing how good a player is, and an entirely different one knowing how they are going to play.

You wrote that you haven't scored against this team called PRT in three attempts this season. They clearly have a way of stopping you.

How would you go on about scoring on them next season?

;)

Have you got anything coming up in the next 3 months (Real Life) that could influence the amount of time you can spend on sokker over the next season?
2007-03-11 04:43:21
That's an interesting question. Best way I can answer this is to say I've got a few ideas but not sure which one I'll use yet :p.

In terms of the next 3 months, I will have end of semester examinations which only last for about 1-2 weeks usually depending on when my courses are allocated the exam. These would reduce my time but not significantly. I would still make the effort to look after the NT.

(Dont forget u have a big 21st that im gonna get u wasted at) - U might be out of action for a few days there :P

Somehow doubt it tbh.

What's your general idea how Australia should play?
2007-03-11 14:21:51
Can you give us your ideas here, why you think it is a good idea and bad? And what you likely would end up chosing?

Sounds like a good tactical discussion we all can benifit from! ;)

I can really only judge by how I've seen them play in the past as I don't know the players' skills.

When saying how Australia should play, it would always depend on individual situations, such as whether we have an injury crisis , whether we play against a team which plays super defensive / attacking and also whether we need a particular result etc.

To pinpoint an exact area of how we should play is not an easy task from my current position. Since you want a distinct answer by the sound of things I would prefer Australia to play an offensive based tactic that still has a fairly solid defense.

In other words not a super offensive style which leaves our defense in all sorts of problems if we lose the ball quickly but not too defensive so that we can't attack and create opportunities either.

So an offensive style is what I'd like to see Australia play if I had to name just one style.

Is this in relation to the question borkos asked or is this in relation to the ideas I have of playing your side? ;).
2007-03-11 14:44:24
I meant rather what squad and tactics would you use?

You don't know the skills, but as I guess you're watching NT game so you should know who's better/worse etc.
2007-03-11 14:45:43
Playing my side of course. :)
2007-03-11 14:58:35
Once again that depends on the situation. I wouldn't want to be too predictable with my tactics so tactics would be varied. I would unlikely use more than 2 strikers and by a similar approach would be unlikely to play with less than 4 defenders as both create a few issues such as crowding space (attack) and too many gaps (defense).

As for specific players that's also a week by week approach and depends on the format of the game as to whether it is an U21 game, competition game, or a qualifying game etc.

Don't see how this relates to myself campaigning for the national team job. Just sounds like a way you can try and scout to work out what to play against myself ;).

I'll answer it by saying I don't know how one will go and I'm fairly confident I know how the other ideas will go. They are the good and bad reasons as one I've got no clue the other two I've got a rather good clue as to how at least my own team performs. I'll let you work out the rest :p.
