Asunto: Youth players

perhaps keep him and train him in pace until end of season and then sell him off to hopefully find a keeper trainer. Might get a fair bit for him then.

thanks

I had a similar one coming out of my YS and he's popped 3 times in pace since (once again today randomly).
He's my 1st team GK and I'm glad I've hang on to him... maybe you should resist the call of the $$$...
I'll sell him in a few seasons and still get good money for him but by then I'll have enjoyed a decent keeper.
2007-12-20 15:34:14
hard to choose but will keep him
2007-12-20 21:26:00
As soon as you stop training a player that talented you should probably sell him. With the $$$ you should be able to get an equivalent keeper easily (and you're likely to have some change as well)
2007-12-21 00:09:56
I'm not sure I get this... I should sell and get the equivalent back, so why selling in the 1st place?
I dont mean to be funny but I need more element to grasp the full extend of your sentence.
thanks

If you have a young keeper with talent that you aren't going to train you have the following options:

1) Keep the guy you have
Outcome: your team has a keeper of level X

OR

2) Sell the young guy and get an older/less talented keeper who performs at the same level
Outcome: Your team has a keeper of level X and some extra cash

To my mind that's a no brainer.

much clearer now, thanks.

Option 1 saves me the gamble in my current situation (cant go shopping with my budget and dont want to be keeperless the time I found an old GK regarding the current GK market).

It might suit Kobey better...

Adequate 5+ will probably be listed, but is a nice trainee for a defender trainer. And he never popped twice so his talent is unknown.

he'd be great if he had a better talent. I.e 5wk instead of 7wk. Even so there are still a few options, you could keep him and train him as a striker, or you could sell him off and I'd imagine someone would buy him.

It's hard to say what to do with him because it depends on what your team training plan is, but if you were a striker trainer it would be tempting to keep and see what happens. He's young and low levels so the talent factor is less likely to cause significant differences until you reach formidable or so.
