Did you get shut down for it? I thought (well think I thought) that it was a great idea, and I would still be up for it, I have a feeling others were up for it, just nothing official.
Good+1, 6 week talent
Ryan Haliti, age: 19
value: 37 200 AU$, wage: 920 AU$
unsatisfactory stamina, tragic keeper
tragic pace, average defender
weak technique, hopeless playmaker
average passing, weak striker
Listed, or to be listed, I forget if I've done it already

Maybe 'being shut down' was a bit much, but I thought it was a top idea. So maybe I should rehash it??
From memory Cometer didn't want anything to do with it, but maybe since you're in the inner sanctum you'd be willing to spend the 10mins a week to get it happening?
Anyway the idea is:
One of the inner sanctum (NT coach or assistant sets up a simple database/spreadsheet) recording details of participating AUS managers who are keen to train a NAT.
My thoughts are the spreadsheet would contain:
1. Manager
2. Training style (DEF, MID, ATT, GK)
3. Training cycle (what they're training currently)
4. funds available to spend an AUS trainee
Realistically I couldn't foresee having more than twenty managers on this spreadsheet intitially.
Obviously there needs to be some semi-regular maintenance (once a month) of this spreadsheet. So on a routine basis (I propose) the person running this gets an update from managers on what details (as above) have changed so these can be updated. This could be done either by a simple SKmail or by having a dedicated thread where you post who needs to SKmail you an update.
I think it's important to note here that info should only be shared between the individual manager, the NAT manager, and whomever is running the spreadsheet.
So the purpose is obviously that players with some NAT potential or a lot of NAT potential are more likely to go to a manager who will train in line with NAT needs and be receptive to the NAT manager's requests rather than falling into the hands of eveil empires overseas.
So the simple usefullness of this simple spreadsheet is that when a prospective youth is produced the NAT manager or assistant can SKmail (or msn or email) the suitable managers and let them know:
a) that the player is available
b) when the player is available
c) what training they think this player needs asap
Realistically some players may only need a season of tech or a season of pace (for example) so this player could be suggested to the righager then onsold to another suitable Aus manaher.
/idea
/rant
Edit - This idea could/should be extrapolated to include older trainable NAT players/prospects.
For eg: If you have a 21yr old NAT prospect defender that you know needs one season of Tech and you know that user: agbell79 is training tech and has $5m to spend, he can be notified in advance as to what is happening.

I can't remember whether I directly knocked it back or whether it was only certain aspects, I'll have a dig and see if i can relocate it to see how I did react, I do remember commenting on it though. Guess at different stages you see things a little differently as I can't really see why it wouldn't be a good idea if only the people who were interested were receiving skmails from people.

Great player! Should make a great middie!
Great player! Should make a great middie!
im currently training striker but should i keep him for a season of pace and tech before selling? or should i just make him into a striker and keep? :P
No matter what you do, don't turn him into a striker. It's a waste of his mid skills, and getting him up to a decent level from good pace/average tech is going to be a pain.

You are a very lucky man. And very rich if you decide to sell, but honestly, why would you?
If I were you, I'd set up to train pace/tech for the next 2 seasons. Your striker prospects will benefit as well.

are you saying to ditch my striker training and focus on this guy? i would rather not....
I'm saying train him up to vg/vg pace/tech and sell.
that'll be in maybe 2 season's time, and i dont think he'd sell for as much, also think it'll be a waste of his potential..
he's definitely not as likely a striker prospect as a midfielder, but if you've got strong coaching staff then a season of pace, tech might not go too badly. Again, you need to weigh up a few options here.
1) Do I want to keep him and train him.
2) Can I get a truckload of cash now, or will a season of pace and tech improve the cash you can get by a large margin, or is selling him now a better option.
No decision is right or wrong, it's totally prefential. I'd strongly look at all possibilities but he is for sure a better midfielder than striker in my opinion. Whatever happens there will be interest from a large number of sources if you have that screenshot showing his level and talent and people will pay a large sum. The decision rests on what you prefer to do.
I'd strongly suggest keeping him if you were a midfield trainer, but since you're not you need to decide what the best decision is.

Yeah the stamina hurt, but i guess with an unearthly, there re more skills to go somewhere.
If you are training pace and tech for now, I say train this guy, with that talent and those two skills being so low, train him in those skills until you decide you have had enough of tech and pace (and in the mean time, look for buyers, you may find someone who will give you more then you can refuse)
At the end of the pace/tech training, you will know whether you wanna keep going with your original prospects in striker training or go onto mids (who knows what your next few youth pulls may be)
