pretty good player there. Should slot straight into your list of trainees I'd imagine or else you could always pass him on to a defender trainer. Either way it's a nice pull. We needed 1 this week :).

He's decent. I've got a slightly better[all skills except stamina, gk, striker = 43, your = 37] for 5 000 000 $. I guess your one is worth ~3 000 000 $ although I'm not an expert...

Still, nice pull. I wish I get something good, my last good pull was Fryderyk Hachorek [9556078] at 24.05.2008....nothing interesting since then :(

Minkee has had unbeleivable luck on pulls the last few seasons. He's stealing the luck from the rest of us!

it goes in cycles. Most of us at some stage have gone through a run of a lot of quality players (some more than others). In the end, the youth system as I have always said is certainly worth it's investment but like all investments takes a while to start benefitting.

5 more weeks until I break a 4 year drought :). Finally getting a junior higher than incredible. Hopefully he turns out to be something useful for somebody.

Luck of the draw + tight youth school management = great pulls

- magical coach
- juniors get the sack if talent is >5.5wk or don't come out minimum VG/Exc
- exception made to potential 16yo

A YS is a profitable outfit if run properly... I really don't see the point of wasting trainee slots and coach wages in crappy players that won't make my 1st team one day, benefit the NT long term or get you minimum 50k when sold. (which most of VG/exc don't sadly)
Saying that I have only 2 slots free! :(

8 weeks until I get my hands on a magical/unearthly. Hopefully I've used up all my bad pulls for a little while.

I think I may have to be more stringent on my youth school and cull a lot more guys. I allow 8 talents to stay in my school at the moment and I've still got 8 slots. As I said... Minkee has been very, very lucky!

Minkee - what is the lowest starting skill you keep?

well so have you if you're pulling a magical/unearthly ;). That's higher than I've ever had and I've been here since 2005 :p.

Minkees had a few good pulls lately, I've pulled a couple of gems from the hat too, in particular O'Donoghue.

I'd have thought if we wanted to talk luck that sx890410 has been more lucky then Minkee but I'd be happy for any Australian pulling quality Australian players. Sets us up nicely for the future :).

What is certain is that you can make your own luck by good management. Deciding what to keep and throw, how many spots to fill etc all assist the chances of pulling a strong junior.

I use SO, it tells you what they can come out as if the talent was perfect.
So I base my choice on that... I usually keep the incoming players in if they look to be matching my criteria and then scrap them or not as soon as I know their talent. It might be perceived as waste but it frees spot for the good ones quicker! :)

As I said if the guy is not coming out VG minimum I won't keep him unless he turns out to be a potential 16yo...

Surely you don't keep tragic or hopeless just because they are there for 30 weeks and will eventually make it to VG?!?

No, he would be old by the time he gets out...

But I did when I had a drought a while ago and couldnt get anything decent. Sometimes they turn out to be very talented and that's a very good selling point to some when advertised on the player's page and the appropriate forums.

Definitely luck. Some of us have less than others. I've been here since 2006-04-13... that's almost 3.5 years, and I still haven't produced a NT player; and only one U21 regular.

For sure luck plays the most part but without the basic management to put yourself in the position to get good youth pulls, you would be pushing to get a NT player even with luck. That's why there's a way to make your own luck but at the end of the day you can still do everything right and get nothing.

From memory I've only ever had 2 players for the 1st XI NT on a regular basis and both of those were default players, so in terms of producing players that make the 1st XI so far I haven't had much luck either. I've produced a fair few U21's though.

I assume by your 1 in the U21's you're referring to Fihaki? That was probably your best youth pull to date.

You've also produced Noel Ando who's in the U21 squad currently too.

Had their been an U21 NT at the time, I'm pretty sure Bacak would have made it (although I'm not sure if you pulled him or started with him).

But yeah, some have certainly produced more. Saints for example produced a handy list of players:

Papaluca has probably been my best pull. 18yo, brilliant, talent 4. Sold for 2mil. Champion GK!

That's convenient if you plan on keeping him. Shame he's not 18 or else he'd be very convenient for your side.

Papaluca is a freak, he's probably going to be the number 1 goalkeeper for our senior side sometime next season at the age of 22. That's just amazing considering we're not weak in quality goalkeepers.
