Vivski, you're on the money in terms of what I'm getting at.
Minkee, not sure you're totally getting what I'm saying.
My squad is at a point where being full (or near enough) means it becomes more difficult with the new system when determining who to let go in order to bring 'freshies' in. Whilst the final outcome may be the same as the previous system, I can't afford to be waiting until that time to find out - the randomness in terms of what you get is already there at the time of bringing the junior in to your senior squad (to a point).
Example - I have a player who came in at poor & 21 weeks, then after a week or two popped to weak, only to then drop three levels to hopeless! So, from being worth keeping as a possible solid pop, he goes to something not worth keeping(?) - I have far less idea (& this is not the only case I have).
There is absolutely no way this is as beneficial as the previous system. If I'm paying the wages for a magical coach, I expect a better reading & less fluctuations on players, especially when I'm getting a drop by 3 levels - otherwise what's the point.

I get you no problem, I have players going -2/+2 within a week too. I have a magical coach, that's as accurate as he's going to be and if I want a better one I'll have to upgrade to unearthly, I accept this.
The system has been in place only 4 weeks, I just find it's way too early to draw conclusion as this period would in most cases only translate in one pop for a nice juniors with the old system. This is what I'm getting at.
Also Greg specifically said he wanted a bit more randomness and less readability in the system so for sure it's not going to be as cushty and lazy as it was before.
The more you play the player in the junior squad the more accurate the coach will be so for sure with 30 kids in your YS you might struggle to get an accurate reading.
I still use the old popping system in my head and if the junior is not coming out VG or Excellent then I kick him out, I don't bother finding out.

Whilst you can't know the exact level, you can work out roughly where it is based on weeks. Say he was poor 21, poor 20 and weak 19, then suddenly hopeless 18. You can essentially assume he's somewhere between two extremes (hopeless and weak). So in all likeliness he's still either an unsatisfactory or a poor. Obviously the more weeks he plays the closer the range you get.
It's much more difficult then before but what it has done is put everyone on the same field, whilst also hopefully dropping prices of youth players due to uncertainty in talent. I still would like a bit more time to fiddle around with a bit of experimentation to see if it's possible to get a decent estimate of the talent despite the fluctuations but I'm not holding much hope. I'm not judging this system just atm either, first impressions are I don't enjoy it too much but it could easily grow on me as time passes and I get to understand the system a bit more and get over having the free lunch decisions.
Edit: Out of interest, do player level estimates update on Thursday with training or on the Wednesday? I haven't really been around to work out the exact dates. I'd assume it's the Thursday update.
