That defender is a monster in terms of height. Not sure either of them will be NT material with their ages and skill set, however Hammond probably has the better chance. Achmid will be able to confirm from an U21 perspective but unless they’re highly talented I don’t think they’ll cut it. Hammond would need significant defender investment I think.

That being said both could be very good trainees for club level if you’re looking to fill up slots and places. Could get a reasonable price if trained in the right areas.

Yes my sights tend to be a bit lower than NT when it comes to trainees.

He's a couple behind a fringe u21 chance 19 year old I have so I'd say not a candidate there either, but as you say with the height and decent secondaries he should turn into a decent defender for me.

As I'm predominantly training pace at the moment I can't see the route to turn the GK into something worth having so he's on the market (and I fully expect to sack him after he fails to sell)

While I'm on - there was mention of pace training faster when young. At what age does that advantage fall away?

Don’t think there’s a set age, every year gets slightly slower for any skill (more noticeable with pace from what I understand).

In short every level takes longer than the previous level (levels are exponential not linear). On top of this every year of age a skill is slightly slower to train too I believe (pace being more noticeable) Whether that’s from a set age or if it’s a continuous slow down over each additional year of age I’m not really sure.

In any case trainign seems to be reasonable until around 25 (might be a bit higher than others who might say 23) but yeah keep that in mind too as a player with 1 high skill and no other skills will not play well or sell well.

How exponential are we talking - it seems like 2-3 week pops up to level 7, 3-4 weeks from 7-9, 4-5 weeks for 10 but I haven't really trained anyone higher than that yet - how much slower does it get?

Depends on the true talent of the player, the amount of training they receive, the coaching staff you have and then age/skill level and the skill you're training. Lower levels and younger age talent has less of an impact but higher skills or older age and you'll notice the difference pretty quickly as players just start hitting a wall at the high end skills.

Took one of my players 11+ weeks at age 26 to get to divine pace from unearthly. That's probably not the usual mind you. You wouldn't often train pace to a 26yo at that skill level but well sometimes we all make sacrifices for the greater good right :).

I'm not sure I can answer you properly other than from about outstanding onwards you really notice it (as each level seems to take an extra week or two every level) if the player isn't talented or is above the age of 22-23.
