Will be interesting but I’d rate him more as a striker at first glance

Me too, but he's my 3rd best 18yo striker and the others are 3x VG. So while he looks like a striker, I don't think he'd get any game time unless trained as a defender.

People would pay some money for him as striker, not as def

This is the other option, sell him on for the $$$.

For the kind of money he'd sell for at his level, I'd prefer for him to play a role as a defender for U21 NT. That's IF he'll play a role. 4th or 5th defender is important as the weakest link in the back line.

Some more so than others.

It’s great that a lot of recent good pulls are going to the still developing or newer teams. From a NT perspective you need every active user as possible and it always feels rewarding pulling a decent youth from your own school.

Haven't looked into talent (I can work it out) but I don't remember it being particularly good.

It's so hard to turn down a decent level, decent talent youth, but I definitely have read many on the forum say they fire anyone coming out at 20 or older.

I'm not one of those yet.

Looking through the database, knowing Excellent is maximum level, what could have the potential of making the U21s as a 20youths (obviously depends on start of season vs end of season)

So for each position, you could get up to the following:
GK - 3x excellent
Def - 2x excellent vs 2x excellent with decent secondaries
MID - 4x excellent
Att - 3x excellent

GK - would not be #1 but could be a reserve
Def - 2x excellent start of season could make the team, start of season with secondaries too would be right in the mix. End of season, even with secondaries, not a chance
Mid - Could make the team at start of season with just 3x excellent and a not terrible 4th skill. End of season with 4x excellent would be in the mix
ATT - Start of season, may be in the mix depending on season. End of season pull, not a chance most seasons.

So 20yos definitely have a place, but they do need to be a decently high level pull.
Based on current GK trainees, would not pull a good enough one, but some seasons are droughts.
For outfielders, really got to be looking at a skill sum of at least 30, assuming perfect distribution, probably more like 34-38 for a realistic outside chance, or 40+ for a decent chance with the right distribution.

Great distribution. Surprisingly enough, doesn't really make it in to our strikers at all, and a very outside chance as a defender.
