Asunto: Youth players

A GK so doesn't really count, but other than dropping in the last week of the season it's hard to complain about this one. Was at Outstanding and is a 4.16 talent

Bailey Abbott, age: 17
club: Hackney Marshes, country: Australia
value : 408 800 AU$
wage: 3 400 AU$
very good [9] form
tragic [0] tactical discipline
height: 178 cm, weight: 75.7 kg, BMI: 23.89

unsatisfactory [2] stamina excellent [10] keeper
very good [9] pace hopeless [1] defender
unsatisfactory [2] technique hopeless [1] playmaker
solid [8] passing unsatisfactory [2] striker

Keep that any day of the week. That’s your A League worthy GK there if you train him (assuming you can afford to as GK skill on coaches are more expensive). Otherwise I’d probably be keen on that one.

I'll have to release someone, 'cos I just pulled this guy...

Talent 4

Danny Boutsianis, age: 17, height: 178 cm
value: 122 400 AU$, wage: 1 720 AU$
club: Cool Runnings, country: Australia
form [9] very good, tactical discipline [0] tragic

stamina [2] unsatisfactory, keeper [0] tragic
pace [8] solid, defender [7] good
technique [3] poor, playmaker [7] good
passing [7] good, striker [0] tragic

How should I train him? Tech, passing, pace?

I'd take on both Abbott and Boutsianis. What a day for you guys! I think my post from yesterday started something :D
Anyway, let me know if any of you'd be keen on selling.

Yeah he could just barely make it as winger... if mid, never train def, No time for it... but he could also become topclass def if started trained that from now.... he only just make it as mid

A good goalkeeper can win you so many points... I would train him to first 17 gk, then 18 pace, then 18 gk then sell

Both Boutsianis and Abbott look great.

I'd certainly train Boutsianis as a mid at first glance. Probably get pace to Incredible and then work on technique (if you didn't have other players to consider).

Abbott is as cometer says.

Beauty. If you plan to make money on him, start with a couple of tech trainings [so he gets a graph for 2nd pop] and then give him a +1 in every skill he hasn't improved on his own.

If you plan to keep him for longer (I would) then as mentioned - start with pace, I'd suggest at least brilliant

whether you want to make a winger or a CM out of him is a personal choice
2024-06-13 14:44:02
Yeah could be either really though if you go the cm route you’ll likely need to throw in a season of defender training at the end (eg when he’s 24/25) after all the other skills are high enough. Should get to formidable defender anyway without trainign defender so long as your head coach has high defender skill. Pace should go first though to save you the pain later.

Yeah - guess this is the games way of making me look like an idiot for threatening to automatically cut all my youth goalkeepers.

I think as a trainee his wages may get too expensive for me but I'll certainly aim to train him and see how they go. He's close enough to being my top goalkeeper that it makes it easy for him to get playing time

I'll be training him more evenly than has been suggested though. Both to try and keep his wages down for as long as possible and because my set of unearthly coach skills are across two coaches and my other trainees will need me to swap between the two.

I think that's a good idea. Shows you are considering all the factors and playing the best you can within the limitations.

That's half the fun of sokker

Without doing a 100% full update, Boutsianis sits

#2 U17 MID - 4 skill points behind 1st, 2 above 3rd
#2 U17 DEF - 6 skill points (pace+def) behind 1st, equal 3rd and 4th. Does have the best secondaries of the 4 though

I still feel he is a MID though, we just happen to have 2 guns leading the way for the mid and def of that age group (the defender is #2 for the age group above, and the mid is #3 for the age group above)
2024-06-13 17:44:39
Bailey Abbott

#1 (and only one) for U17 Keeper. There are a couple of 16yos too, but they are a few skill points behind

Great few youths there guys!

Pulled as Outstanding

Joseph Steele, age: 18
club: Waverley Lions FC, country: Australia
value : 159 200 AU$
wage: 2 200 AU$
very good [9] form
tragic [0] tactical discipline
height: 167 cm, weight: 67 kg, BMI: 24.02

tragic [0] stamina hopeless [1] keeper
excellent [10] pace adequate [6] defender
solid [8] technique average [5] playmaker
adequate [6] passing tragic [0] striker

Pulled as Very Good

Gareth Cook, age: 19
club: Waverley Lions FC, country: Australia
value : 68 800 AU$
wage: 1 160 AU$
very good [9] form
tragic [0] tactical discipline
height: 166 cm, weight: 68.9 kg, BMI: 25

average [5] stamina tragic [0] keeper
hopeless [1] pace tragic [0] defender
adequate [6] technique unsatisfactory [2] playmaker
adequate [6] passing good [7] striker

Dilemma for Gareth though because of his age and end of season
2024-06-14 04:46:05
Steele is a great pull.

#3 MID for his age, #6 Def for his age.

Definitely looks like a mid to me

I'm thinking CM for Boutsianis. But what is the ideal distribution for a 21yo CM?

With 54 skill points to share across pace, tech, pass, def & pm... where would you put them for a CM?
