Asunto: Youth players

Borkos is right, age has always been more important. Before if a player age 16 week 1 was Max time in school he would finish start 18... now its midway 18.... so thats the limit at first for the Math.

My ys had:
19 yo: 1 uneartly, 2-3 magical, several brillant
18: 2 magical, some brillant and Incredible

But My best junior was a Incredible 17 yo week 10, cause he nothing wasted on stamina, striker or gk and perfect talent... he was the Best danish def mid ever in old system

My best was a good 16yo who I trained for half season and the sold for over 13m euro because of top talent:)

Given all that’s been said here, I am thinking 1 of 2 options -

1. Reducing YS slots from 30 to c.15-20 & saving the weekly spend, as whilst my average YS level is on par with previous seasons, it’s somewhat inflated by hanging onto older youths that don’t seem to be amounting to much when they are pulled. This is more evident since the changes.
As Borkos mentioned, maybe having enough youths to put out a team each week is all that’s needed (unless there’s a surge in quality youths).

2. Something I have started doing is culling older youths, with the aim (make that dream) of trying to house upward of 30 quality youths mainly aged 16-17 (only keeping as older when showing right talent/levels).
So far, this is looking the lesser of the options as the quality of 16-17yo just doesn’t seem to be landing….certainly not for 30 slots.

I guess you could say I’ve already started with option 2, but it’s looking like option 1 could come into play.

At least going this way with above options is the correct order, until I’m sure I want #1. I’ve not worked out what savings that might bring, but it’s gotta be better than paying for empty slots & not much quality exiting for quite a while.

I daresay some might be able to counter this, at which I’m open to hear further thoughts. At least we’re debating & throwing around suggestions, which can only help our NT setup.

IMO it's a good idea, if someone knows the youth school well and is sure who can bring money and who won't... otherwise it's better to keep more than less...

That's my situation, without 2 18yo solid ones that come out this Thursday (kept them only cause they were my best players for youth league...)

Feliks Mumowski 17 good [7] outfield 7
Cyprian Pruszewicz 17 solid [8] outfield 10
Mirosław Szymczycha 17 adequate [6] outfield 11
Wacław Konowalski 17 good [7] GK 14
Daniel Jastrzębiec 17 adequate [6] outfield 17
Cezary Krukowski 17 good [7] outfield 17
Eryk Przewłocki 17 average [5] outfield 18
Błażej Hapka 16 tragic [0] outfield 22
Wiesław Kuler 17 adequate [6] outfield 23
Dawid Walas 18 good [7] outfield 24
Czesław Kosman 17 hopeless [1] GK 26

Nothing impressive in this bunch...

I also checked how many of my youth players brought at least 25k euro after selling, so they "paid for themselves"

I have 3 at my team [1 valuable around 500k-1m euro, 1 valuable 7 seasons trainee, 1 reserve gk]

Other than that: 7 players sold for over 25k since start of 2021

Around 10 players of any worth for 3 years / 10 seasons so roughly 1 decent player a 1 season. No point in keeping anything close to 30 unless someone is amazingly lucky or doesn't know who to cancel.

My opinion is the savings are negligible. I don't even change my junior places away from 30 when I have more than 6 places, as I regularly forget to increase it again.

By cutting down from 30 places to 20 places saves you $16000 per week, or about $200k per season.

Do this for 10 seasons, you save $2M, enough to buy...well, nothing.

A new team should definitely do it, but a team that's been around a bit, I figure those savings aren't worth it. I'd prefer the off chance something decent does come out with those extra spots

It's not really possible though, I mean look at my current YS, it's certain that even after such trimming some of them won't even get sold at transfer list and will end up being sacked anyway, just after many weeks of being paid for

Błażej Hapka 16 tragic [0] outfield 22 - what's his max? good [7] 18yo in middle of season?

I mean there's not much of a chance of a 18 or 19yo solid-excellent going out and being of any value really... the other way it works, you can get unlucky with seemingly decent youth, but I don't recall being really surprised in a positive way (unless I expected that the you might be worth a bit and he ended up being worth more).

it all depends on one's luck though, some might have a fairly decent 20 youths that might bring profit, that's why I'm saying that it's mostly for those who can distinguish properly who can and who can't bring profit based on age/weeks/level/talent

It's definitely no always possible.

Personally I just keep the best 24 and have 6 spots open. Best 24 regardless of how they will come out, because very occasionally someone either surprises you with a talent turnaround, or the perfect distribution whilst being a low level.

If I plan on going away or being busy, I will cut harder than that, but still leave my school at 30, just in case I forget the cull youths in time.
2024-07-11 04:07:18
Yeah I’m similar. I keep as many places as I can and ensure I have the +6 free for the next week. Means some stuff gets through that wouldn’t normally be of any value but also means I don’t cull the wrong ones too soon either. My intention is to just flood whatever I can with juniors so that we have more representation of nt prospects. Mightn’t be good but with a small user base they may still be needed.
