A good exemple of how to ruin an interesting discussion with totally pointless inputs... well done boys...

I'd have went with 'sheep shaggers' myself...LOL!!! Nah....only serious!!

Back on top(ic)....I've been on a couple of forums in Hattrick & given Sokker a plug...& bagged the 'boringness' of HT along with the sheeeite game engine....part time on there now as it's crap compared to Sokker.

Even plugged it on Trackking....now there's a game worth looking at if you're a real Aussie with an interest in the nags.....kiwis too. Take a look....top game.

I'd disagree Minkee.

Football is close to the biggest sport in Australia already. Not sure you're aware of this but it has the highest participation rate in Australia, with netball coming in a distant second. To say the Champions League is only watched by immigrants is also far from the truth. I'm not sure what the SBS ratings are for the Champions League but I think you'll find them to be VERY high for something that kicks off at 5AM!

Also the A-League has already generated a huge amount of interest and converted plenty of new fans.

For what it's worth Hattrick has 4325 active users in 'Oceania'. So the people are out there it's just a matter of getting them in and getting them to stay.

I think we might be saying the same thing but differently (if that make sense!)

There's a difference in term of attending an event and actually practicing the sport itself. Where our view joins, is I believe, football is getting very popular in term of practice not in term of attendance and media coverage as yet...

I've been here for 6 months and all I see on TV is AFL, NRL or Cricket... of course there's football on TV but it's so marginal in comparison. Same when I open a newspaper, where's the football compare the other Australian sports? That's what I was getting at...

When I said "immigrants" I refered to the people that have been here for less than 5yrs.
After that time most of them will be citizen and part of the big family.

I'm only expressing a point of view based on what I've seen here around me in Qld. There's no way I can talk football to an aussie older than 25 so far... I only talk football with poms, scots or brazilos or here with you all.

Plus we have to remember there's only 25millions people (AUS+NZ only) over this side. Poland is 38millions on its own! Germany is 82mil, France 64 and the UK 60...
We're never gonna rivalise in term of numbers with them but I agree with you there are people out there we need to grab and get them to stay... it would be much more fun!

I found this intersting survey that brought me a bigger picture...
Australia and Sport

Tables updates on the 19th...

Found the formula somewhere

y = mx + n

y ->points won (or lost if négative)
x -> ranking différence
m -> constant: -0.02876
n -> dépending on the final score, for exemple:

1-0 -> n=29.29
2-1 -> n=24.16
3-2 -> n=19.54
4-3 -> n=16.79
5-4 -> n=14.93
2-0 -> n=37.59
3-1 -> n=36.09
4-2 -> n=32.02
3-0 -> n=42.14
4-1 -> n=42.14
6-3 -> n=36.93
5-0 -> n=46.61
8-0 -> n=48.95
