Asunto: Tactics Question

If plus users watch my latest league match they will see that Williams attacks down the left side very often but puts himself in a position where he can't get a goal unless he passes to Văcăroiu in the middle, who is more often that not free in the penalty box. ow Williams doesn't pass but attempts to shoot himself and missed every time.
I know that it is my fault that he doesn't pass to Văcăroiu because I'll have made my tactic that way, but my question is this: How do I make it so that Williams will pass it to Văcăroiu in situations like that? I know I have to move stuff in the tactic editor screen but what stuff and where?
Thanks in advance

2 things come to mind. You want Williams to pass instead of shoot. Then you shouldn't have Williams with ATT orders. Instead he should have MID orders. Problem then is he won't shoot very often either, so I don't know whether this would be what you want or not.
The alternative is that you need Williams to have a high level in passing and playmaking so that he will pass more often even though he is set to ATT.
Others might pick up more then what I did but those are the options you could try.

i believe if you put the ball in front of the player then they will tend to pass it more than run.
What Barhilo is getting at is that if you have Williams instruction in the top left square as something like
+---+
XXX
XOX
XPX
instead of
+---+
XPX
XOX
XXX
Where P is the player, O is the ball and X are other possible locations for your player.
With that instruction the player is more likely to get to an advanced position and pass, rather than continuing to run all the way forward. Anecdotally (ie I have no concrete proof only my own experience), when players hit the goal line they tend to then turn infield and run towards goals. If you get them to stop before the goal line then they will stop running and have to make shoot/pass decision.

had to dig deep to found that one...
anyone agree with this?

Its a little bit crude, but the basic idea is there.
1) Players run toward wherever your tactic tells them they should run given where the ball currently is. If a player dribbles the ball to a position where he is right on the ball in the tactic, he has nowhere to run to. (Note that for most positions of the ball the position the player will be running too will be the averaged position of several "squares" of your tactic)
2) You can see players stop (because they are in exactly the right spot for where the ball is) all the time. (Defenders are often fairly static for example) But, I am yet to see a player stop whilst dribbling the ball, ever, it just doesn't happen.
3) So it would seem that players aren't allowed to simply stop and hold the ball waiting for a better pass (or a tackler), they are forced to pass (or shoot) the ball.
By using the above 3 assumptions you can "force" when your players will pass (or shoot) the ball.
Want long shots? Force your strikers to receive the ball deeper and give them points where they will stop with the ball outside the box.
Want your winger to pass before he runs all the way into the corner? Then don't let him run all the way to the corner in your tactic.
Want your defensive mids to pass the ball earlier instead of dribbling all the way out of defense? Don't let them over the halfway line whilst the ball is in the middle 5 squares of the tactic... when they start dribbling forward they will hit this "wall" in your tactic and be forced to pass.
Whilst I'm thinking about tactics, any word on whether I'd be allowed to create a tactic emulator for tactic discussions cometer?

actually haven't asked yet, totally slipped my mind, i'll ask about it tonight before i forget again. I don't think it would be allowed but i'll get a confirmation anyway.
