Asunto: The "give your team the hairdryer treatm

I'm celebrating my second straight league title with a one of a kind opening goal at the 20'...

If the opposition wasnt a BOT I think I would be hearing birds name at the moment... :)
2008-08-24 09:19:47
Wrapped my title up with a comprehensive 6-1 win against Salgaocar, who should have taken all 3 points against me last time as I had 2 of my back 3 defenders shown the red. This time, just didn't let them into the game and ran away with the match and the II.04 title :)

Congrats guys.

If anyone wants to see a classic game of sokker, watch my match with Bears today (before reading the report).

my strikers would've had a field day were it not for the best keeper in my league pulling off a couple of stunners

EDIT: ellem had a best of 46. slowly making his way up to the 50 mark :)

Well we got beat 4-0 by TBF, but I really can't complain. Ratings-wise I think it was the highest ever in Australia

I think its the first time I've had more shots than TBF.
Best ever defending rating (formidable)
Best ever team rating (57.5)

Individual PB's
Hirons (69 ATT)
Cristea (66 DEF)
Link (62 MID)

3 of my 4 strikers have a form below weak... it's nearly been a full season now... depressing

Sloppy game... but ended up with a 2-0 win, selling out my new stadium, and clinching the league title :)

Edit: Looks like I'm going to play either Achmid's or Tollygunge... interesting II.01 battle.

Tong, league champions! I had no idea you were in such good shape. Way to go, that's awesome!

My hopes of finishing top of II.03 were obliterated by Larikan's French international. Now all that remains is to see if I can spoil Krayzee's party and give Cumlionibus the II.03 crown.

Honestly really disappointing 'cos Larikan were playing a 5-5-0. The game certainly didn't go to plan, but I learned a lot out of it. Back to earth with a thump... still a long way from having A-League quality on the pitch.

9-0! about time, been waiting all season long for this kind of score :)

my team gets solid shooting for the first time, and ellem has his highest ever score of 48. now to win next week's game to clinch the league title

EDIT: i suppose 3 red cards did help my cause

Murter disapeared (replaced by human manager on the 29/08!) in III.2 and totally screw the outcome of that league and the promotion table...
well done the devs...
2008-08-31 09:53:16
I don't see the problem. Newcastle Knights (the human controlled team) were going to have a tough battle against Murter to promote. As it is a human will now have a chance to promote where a bot might have. What's so bad about that?
2008-08-31 09:56:08
Looks like Newcastle had the league wrapped up anyway... no?
2008-08-31 09:59:33
It's great to see that div 2 has such a good competition going at present,

If jyu lose, and snappa win, snappa wins the league due to a much more impressive GD.
In II.03, cumlionibus needs to make up for a 7 goal deficit in GD so that could take a mighty effort.
2008-08-31 10:02:37
no!
they were going to play Murter next week... who knows what could have happened, you both know we see strange final score lines sometimes in sokker...
now they're facing a new team with crap players and an inexperienced manager right when everybody is firing their last bullets to get a nice spot on the promotion ladder...
it doesnt involve me directly but I find it highly unfair for those who have been battling all season...
2008-08-31 10:19:49
You're right, the timing isn't the best, but if you dictate that bots can only be replaced mid-season or end of season, it will potentially add 2 months to the waiting time. And if you think about the actual logistics of what's going on, the trigger is a new manager signing up... which complicates things.

The best suggestion to put to the devs may be to have a 2 step process:
- bot teams are reset only at weeks 0 and 7 and flagged for replacement,
- human managers only step into bot teams which have already been reset.

Even then the effect of playing a human manager instead of a bot could effect the promotion anyway. It's something you're not going to avoid without leaving bot teams in leagues until they drop right to the bottom.
2008-08-31 10:39:56
To me it's all about the timing, I'm not against the idea at all as it makes it more fun but dropping a bomb like this in a league where the title isnt decided 2 games from the end of the season is not right...

As you say wk0 or wk7 is just perfect as it gives every other teams in the league the chance to play that new team once or twice... Even if it's once a brand new team isnt going too be much trouble if it's played wk1 or wk7...

I think the devs think it's a temporary problem and once the bot will be replaced the problem will be fixed... do you really think we're all gonna play this game till our kids put us in a home?! Your proposition helps the situation and makes it less painful for the current teams in the league. It's not only about getting people in the game it's also about keeping the ones that are playing it and devoting some times to get their team right... that's certainly going to put off some people!

This topic is going to get busy with people whining about their sponsorship going down too because of this new rule...
