Asunto: The "give your team the hairdryer treatm

As Vivski has said - its Eddie! He is back and managing again =) He is no stranger to the game but had to give it up short term due to time restraints... He is no slouch as a manager either. Unlikely he will promote but has the tactical ability to make himself a nuisance.

It was a dead rubber between Tong FC and Melbourne Magpies, despite whatever result, the standings of both teams would not have changed.

However, adding injury to insult, Tong FC suffered 2 x slight injuries, and 1 x 10-day injury, just in time for the Qualification match.

Also Minkee - If you have a look at that league that Eddie is in... the whole league was bot! Until roughly 4 days ago when Eddie took over... Best get some humans in the Div 3 leagues rather than them wasting away in Div 4 - Unlikely that he will promote with his new team but could create an upset

I disagree and I will repeat myself for the sake of it...
this is my view on the subject:
- we had a system that worked very well for a small user country, start in IV, learn the game, dont pay a too heavy price for making mistakes there...
- this new rules make it unfair for existing users as well as new ones (in that case Eddie is a returning user, how often does this happen?) 2 reasons to this:
1- it screws promotion/relegation table, sponsorship money, league prestige for the existing users
2- what are the chances and incentive for a newbie (not eddie :) ) to stay in the game if he keep losing the first few weeks?

Now let's move on... there's another exciting sunday coming up... bring on the quali games :)

I'm not liking this at all. If I lose my qualification match, I relegate into II.03. Oh boy.

IMO II.03 has been the most active and interesting league in Australia, bar none, this last season. Its been up there the last 3 or 4 seasons at least as well.

wasn't actually a dead rubber for you though ;). A win for you would have seen you playing Roar instead of Achmid I believe, so you actually had something to play for ;).

another tough game for Minkee :(. Just can't buy any lucky draws atm. The positive again though, is if they win that game, they go into the easiest II league, but also one of the least active.

it seems i have a game with mega.... moga.... meaga.... whatever, pretty confident that i have a chance, would've been more confident if i can manage to get a new and affordable CM before the match, also were my new DM not injured for 20+ days.....

crucial element to get to II from III is knowing how to set a reasonably good tactic and eliminating a lot of the fatal defensive flaws. The trick to competing against the top II teams is to know how to set up a consistently good tactic along with having the players to be able to do so, least that's how I've seen it.

I'll echo that....sort defence tactics....
...also, decent passing/technique in midfield helps....quick strikers to take advantage when a chance to break the lines & get through one on one with GK.

I've used this as a blueprint when trying to set my stall out & regardless of what the rankings say, I've managed to make a nuisance of myself in II.01....just now a matter of tweaking with other areas & building.

On the subject of 'Eddie'....could they not give him Inter Utd back? Just food for thought. The other thing I've wondered....why not have posn 2 given the chance to promote from div IV (maybe even III) with any BOT teams finishing 1-4 having to avoid relegation in div III (& maybe II)....sort by ranking & give them in a qualifier where available...even if it's for nil attendance money...at least until these leagues sort themselves out with more human teams.

Sorry about the injuries Tong - had to do something to ensure we keep you in II.01....LOL!!

Man, I was gutted when you went 1-0 up....could have been 0-3/4 in the first 20 minutes....I just knew it was coming once we'd not taken advantage.

All in all, happy enough with this season's finish. Serously tho'....good luck in your quali'.

If hadnt scored that 7th goal yesterday I would have played Bushrangers next sunday instead of Dragons... that's ironic :)
oh well... I'll give it a crack and we'll see what happen... I'd better find a good tactic... that's another problem!
