4 new users in my league... 1 stayed... Thanks Uber!
that's a 25% success rate...
If it carries on like that I can see Uber and I stop playing and in the end Sokker will lose players.
I'd rather play a bot like Arsenal that was decaying slowly than a Newbie that I will trash with twice the margin... I've lost load of sponsorship money, loads of fans this season. Ok this time I look good to promote but until I do I won't stop saying my word and even if I promote I will still say my word because Uber and Rick(the other user in my league) do deserve the support according to the effort they put in the game week in week out.
This rule doesnt work and you know how much effort I've put in this, you can just see how active the forum of my league is (III.12), it's more active than any DIII and DII forums (fact).
We even got AL and DII users posting to help the newbies so they get various opinions... how much more can we do to keep them in? I don't think we can do more...
Newbies in IV like before that's all I have to say... that new rule doesnt work, it is proven for Australia and makes more damages in our little community than goods.

EDIT: I don't know what the fuss is all about...
If somebody could spell it out simply for me, I'd appreciate it.

The new players have more chances of winning games, whilst our enjoyment go down. Arsenal' were no challenge for the remaining players, but at least they had some supporters to come to games. Now every away team brings a whole 200x8 to my games. Plus arsenal gave somewhat of a challenge to new players. Now new players get spanked by us or have games against other teams full of random players. Fun? hmmm.
eh... at least you won't hear about this from me anymore. I'll care about the issue as much as the rest of you. Things can't get any worse for me. All the bot teams are gone from my division now and replaced with new bots with 200 fans and $50k rated players. I had just recovered my sponsorship level this week that I had at the start of the season too. Maybe thats why I'm cranky.

We're getting stitched up...
You have every right to get cranky. ;)

If I promote I'll buy one of your players with my new sponsorship money... for 2 or 3 what he's worth... I wont let you rotten in III... :)

This rule doesnt work
I'm trying to get some actual evidence so I can firmly say one way or the other. As I posted in III.12 (about an hour ago) I've got the same verdict as most of you in that it does harm sponsorship money, but we could be worse off still since we "shouldn't" have a 4th division in the first place anymore. Thus we'd still be getting new teams in div 3 without the rule (although admittedly we'd be getting them in div 2 as well with the current rule, unless it's been fixed :p)
I've also had my doubts the entire time about effectiveness of keeping users when they get flogged week in, week out. So far it hasn't appeared to work, but I'm waiting for some evidence that I'll hopefully get to see if it's an entire Australia problem, or just a few unlucky leagues but I'd suggest it's likely to be the former, if not even world wide.
I can't see why you couldn't trash Arsenal as badly as you could a new side (if that new side knew to make a tactic other than a default one). Short term it hurts, long term is hard to say because we haven't had enough users stay around.
As for fans, you're getting more fans then I've been getting so it's not all doom and gloom there ;).

I'm well aware and sadly you can't keep people in if they don't want to be kept. I'm quite positive that most people like games in which you either have total control in or games which are so simple that they don't have to think or work hard to be successful -> battrick, hattrick etc. Time is the other factor as well which I should mention.
Also search engines don't help us either, so the only real way to find out about the game is to get it through word of mouth.
What I'm hoping to have done by sometime in late January is a guide with pretty much every possible button/menu in the game to try and explain what everything does. Might not do much, but if it keeps an extra 5-10% of the users we get, I'd consider it was worth it.

Dave your a tool :P The rule stated that teams would be placed in the bottom 2 divisions IF and only IF there are more than 3 divisions in the country...

Yep, I knew that, although I'm imagining things again I think.

This game is about patience guys. If you work at it, you will get the reward. Plan for your team to be ready for div 2 when you get the chance and you won't look back. As far as the sponsorship hit goes... you'll have to lump it I'm afraid. Until div 3 is full of human players, it will just be a staging area.
There are 40 spots available in the real leagues. Come and get one.
Minkee, you don't have long to wait.
Uber, your team could use another season to dominate in div 3, then you will be ready too. Until then, sit tight, hone your craft and get prepared to face the music.
You guys may lose some sponsorship $$ but you're pretty much handed a chance to promote on a silver platter. Div 2 is where you want to be, so I think that's as good a pro as the $$ hit is a con. No bogey bots to spoil your auto-promote.

Is their a huge difference in sponsership money between II and III? At the moment im getting just over 200K a week but is that much in terms of div 2? I'm really hoping to promote soon and hopefully this season i at least win my league now that Adidas Predators have gone bot (or are about to)
I have been sitting in III.05 for god knows how many seasons and i'm only just starting to make a crack at promotion. to be honest i'd rather get beaten or a least have a few competitive matches in league II than dominate div 3 all season and have 3 or 4 season defining matches

There can be. Think the top of II earn somewhere around the 300k mark, whilst I think most are at least 200k. A lot of teams in III don't get much more than 170k (if that) from what I gather.
A lot depends on how many games you're able to win and how well you keep your supporter mood up.

I sympathise with you, but putting new users in div 4 instead of div 3 won't really help the lack of competition in div 3. The odd bot will put up a fight or maybe rob you of a point through an unlucky result. But that's the extent of it. I hope we can find some new players interested in the game. The more active new managers, the quicker this issue becomes void.
i'm on a 8-match winless streak, my supporters hate me, i'm losing supporters for the past 3 weeks, and i reeled in 210k in sponsorship this week. make what you will from that ;)
