Asunto: The "give your team the hairdryer treatm

The stock tactics go alright with the new ME from what I've seen. Defenders close up the holes at the back and having open players to pass to seems to work well too.

Just another indication that sokker is dying, and not just in Aus.

The highest I've seen the users in sokker reach is 74k, now its down to 48k.

Yeah but it's much the same for most online football management games from what I've seen. Those with more users aren't necessarily because they're better. Sokker is ruthless with removing inactive users. Most other manager games I know keep you for a lot longer.

Sokker doesn't help itself with poor promotion, lack of development, and a match engine that seems to get worse every change. Not really the best way of moving the game forward.

Ultimately it comes down to interest and if interests change (which they do) then games who target particular audiences struggle a little. Sokker's complex, requires effort and patience and really limits the field to a small subset of those who enjoy online games.

I still enjoy sokker but I think it needs a few tweaks that are becoming bigger problems. As the game becomes smaller changes will need to be made to the system to keep the remaining users (particularly in smaller countries). I often think the key to keeping users is to have other active users. You run out of active users, you get bored and so you also move on. That creates a bit of a chain reaction, as someone else then decides to go etc.

I'm looking forward to dominating against a handful of lowly opposition!

Seems all my players have indulged over the xmas period, one stamina pop and 3 stamina plops.
Lazy sods

Did everything but win that game this morning :(.

Scored the early goal and had everything set up nicely only to cough up 2 silly goals inside a minute late in the 2nd half, one from a throw which was intercepted and then played through the offside trap because the thrower was still out of position, followed by a silly backpass from my outside defender which was never going anywhere but their striker.

My end of season bonus revenue down the tube.

Really, only 3 shots and 1 foul each? Not exactly piling on the excitement there.
2013-01-04 09:24:41
Was pretty difficult to break each others defense down since we both went in with a 5-4-1 formation. I created a few more chances but couldn't get the connecting header.

For what it was worth it was looking very good until the 2 goals in 1 minute late on when I'd kept them virtually without a single shot at goal.

Not one for the neutral though.

I'd like to give this game the hair dryer treatment. Finally thought I'd be able to buy a player... got outbid by a guy in Romanian 3rd division, who paid 9mil for a midfield trainee.

Several times in the last fortnight, I bid high on players before bed, only to wake the next day and find I'd been overbid by one bid from a low-ranking Euro team.

I can't even overpay and buy players these days.
Drives me nuts!

This is why progressive squad maintenance is better than a rebuild. Rebuild is especially impossible in first few weeks of season
2013-01-14 13:06:18
Yeah, that's why I started 4 weeks ago. Was hard then, impossible now.

vivski para vivski
Turns out I never had a chance. The guy I was bidding against is ranked 238th in Romania, just sold his squad and now has 34mil to play with. He said he would've paid 12mil for the guy.

Doesn't help when players in the recent off season were selling for 50% more than previous off seasons....which means come the early weeks this season, prices are stupidly high.

I sit there scratching my head at how teams in 5th & 6th tiers with stadia at 10-15k & overall transfer losses of a decent amount can afford to outlay large amounts.

I guess we (here in Oz) are punished for being a small nation....our sponsorship & gates must suffer hideously for it....??? Can't see where else the inequality would lie. :(
