Asunto: What Do You Train Part 2
mixed combo of strikers/tech/pace... long term...
Defenders... But I've never bought a defending trainee...

Just a suggestion which may serve the NAT-team longterm...
If we're logging who is training what then could a volunteer/obsessed SK manager/Nat manager SK-mail the details of any NAT quality youth pull prospect to the group of managers training that skill?
ie: a great 17yr old defensive youth is pulled by a manager and put for sale. The volunteer/obsessed SK manager/Nat manager SK-mails all the listed dedicated Australian defender trainers in the hope that someone purchases him and trains him properly.
Surely in the longterm this kind of dedicated system improves the quality of players we as a nation produce and helps to ensure no amazing prospects fall by the wayside or are trained less effectively.
Thoughts?

sounds like a great idea.
Maybe even a total skill level over the range of skills necersary for each position could be stated by the nt coach (as players can only pop so fast) for each age group.
This would give even inexperienced managers a good indication of how good their player is.
Ie
Striker (ave of Pace, Tech, Stri)
16yo - 16 points
17yo - 21 points
18yo - 26 points
19yo - 30 points etc. etc.
This could continually be updated, as new players are recruited, or potential stars get bought and turn into bot teams

Again you would be A) overlooking the fact that some managers do not have funds to purchase and B) hightening competition as more likeminded people will know of the same player and bid on him, thus raising prices
as far as A) ... we can't do anything about that. you dont always need money to buy an NT player, as you can pick up really good 16yos who train well.
and B), we will create more Australian competition, so there is then more chance an Aussie will get the winning bid, and even if the prices go higher and an aussie doesnt get the player, then the aussie manager selling them benefits and that money can be used on another player.
Realistically tho, even when an aussie is promoted in a forum, how many users from aus are actually there watching him (besides the one selling) at the time they are being sold...with so few users, it would be more hoping just one manager could be online at the time with funds

Could be an annoying amount of skmails, and not everyone would want their inbox full with adverts of players, where some might not be interested due to incorrect skill distribution.
I think it was an interesting thought and a possible option, but I don't think I'd be likely to take that up and I think the youth thread if they posted there, there would be a large indication as to whether they were serious contenders or not and most would view that thread.
Other possibilities might be to add specific requirements for certain characteristics, ie U20, U21 and senior side. Wouldn't be overboard for every year, but for the major ones it could potentially work out better.
I'm still tallying results here for those who haven't posted or are still undecided.

Agreed.
In regard to raising prices, I really don't think this is a factor. A great Aussie prospect is going to sell for a price that negates the idea of everyone who has been alerted by Sk-mail bidding on him.
What this system would enable is alerting managers who are looking to train a studly young Aussie but
(a) may not otherwise have the time to monitor the transfer market for a player of this ilk to pop up; or
(b) accidently doesn't see this player for any number of reasons.

I actually don't think there would be many SK-mails, and also wasn't implying that it had to be you doing it - there would no doubt be a volunteer or two out there.
There surely aren't more than one or two (if that) realistic NATprospect youth pulls each week that have nice talent.
Consider this as a 'procedure'
1. youth is posted in youth thread or someone notices him on sale
2. in that thread he is spotted/discussed as an obvious prospect
3. Sk-mail sent by volunteer to managers
If only great prospects are identified, I wouldn't see many Sk-mails being sent. Your list has already done half the work.

Any decent manager will check the forums regularly.
I suggest we put in place an agreement that any Australian players above a certain skill level must be posted on the transfer forum a minimum of 10 days before being listed.
We could put up a dedicated thread so as not to clog the forum.
1 thread for NT players or potential NT players U21.
1 thread for juniors who are on track to be pulled above outstanding or are popping faster than 4wk/pop and likely to be young.
Also, we could mandate a time period restriction on listings for such players. Maybe something like during the day up until 15:00 sk-time. That would help us keep players in Australia.
I'd happily sign up to such an agreement.

I like the idea of this mandating time period (before sk 1500).
Although this may mean a little less cash for the seller, it should all work out because if they go to buy a player, they will also get it for cheaper.
Then again it can be looked at it from another view, if they are a potential nt player, then it wont matter really what time you are selling them for the price, it just makes it easier for aussies to bid, and not polish people
I would sign up for such an agreement too
