Saints produced some decent players in Byers and Nikas but for sure the stars have to be TBF,PRT and IDM.

Well, you can tell who's the luckiest of them all. :/
Decent players to come out of my youth acadamy, but funny enough most of them have not played or wasn't in my future plans.
Lucas Howarth - sold right away as I would not train him, Jamie Lawton - deserved to play for a team that gave goalkeeper training (sold way to cheap I think), Kristian Wells - don't even remember him, Jim Schwarzer - sold to get the correct training, Carl Pottier - sold as he would not get proper training, Scott Stephenson - remember the name, but not why I sold him ;)
I was lucky with Amien as I started with him, but his talent was never great, and I wasted at least 1 seasons training for him.
Do I regret selling them? Schwarzer and Lawton yes, as they went to cheap and Lawton landed in wrong club.

Not necessarily, the thing missing is the time taken to produce that many. TBF have been established for a very long time and so it's not surprising they have quite a few players in the NT.
edit: I take some of that back as it appears naphtali is adding to it :p. What I took back is no longer visible. Sorry to those who missed it :p.

Surprising what Howarth has become - because he was pretty poor as youth!
Quick comparison:
TBF (10): 2004-09-23
FCM Tigers (2): 2005-06-01
That's 7 months difference, and a difference of 8 NT players.

yeah except you need to look behind the scenes a bit, TBF were our primary midfield trainer and so had control over the most of the midfield for one thing. As for juniors TBF having those extra 7 months had that much more time to establish their junior school and generate more money to invest in their junior school. So 7 months can mean a huge deal, but in saying that, especially in setting up players for when the NT got introduced, it is possible that for juniors that were sold, they didn't end up with someone interested in training them to any significant level and that's another case to consider also.
But yes you do have some sort of a point, but there's more factors to consider then just luck. Coach levels, time played, level of juniors kept, whether the player receives training and also luck.
edit: Besides which it's 8 months :p.

Fine.
What about PRT (2005-06-03) and FCM Tigers (2005-06-01)?
One has 7 NT players, and the other only 2... Very similar sign-up dates. I hope 2 days doesn't make that much difference.
If this isn't attributed to luck, I don't know what will be...

Same reason Stuart MacGill hardly played a Test for Australia. It comes down to who trains what, the long-term strategic decisions you make, etc. Maybe FCM chose to invest in more overseas players while PRT stuck with the Aussies?
Not sure, but I'm sure it's not just luck.

PRT vs FCM, it's both about luck and a bit investment.
I took this game a bit more serious earlier than FCM. I invested in youth team very early, got many places and a decent coach. Easier to get NT players then since there where not so many high talented youth players from Australia.
But as you can see of the players, most of them have not played for me, and if so only a few games. Most sold right away, and I'll bet noone thought Howarth was going to be that good. So luck for those who bought them ;)

Yeah and full credit for the training effort also for the buyers of those players, especially for Howarth, who was a real surprise packet from his initial skills. In a few seasons expect to see a few other faces there I would suspect.

As long as players have talent and get trained with the right training setup, seemingly rubbish players can become NT players. One player that I sold for £1650 quite a few seasons ago has had a few NT caps this season for instance!
