You call those good stats?!

Leading scorers:
38 Dean Byers 11 Wise Men

Most assists:
15 Corey Matthews 11 Wise Men

Those are good stats =]

I just called them stats, didn't comment on their "goodness" :P
2007-10-08 07:03:52

*Mental note, dont argue with the stats master*

Has anyone in NZ other than deathstrike had a defender get a mark of 50 or better yet?

I was just having a look NZ premier and the average marks of the defenders is appalling. Maybe the strikers are so good that people have given up? It looks like almost every team wants a shootout every week.
2007-10-08 08:17:28
Marks for defenders are VERY misleading. Two of my defenders are definitely top notch.
2007-10-08 10:40:28
Let me preface the follow by saying that I acknowledge that player value is even more misleading than player marks.

A quick comparison of backlines shows that the average value of a backline in A-League is AU$2052650.

Your backline is AU$1908800, not far off that.

Which is close... But... half the A-League teams run a back three and you're running a back four.

So if you look at average value of backline defenders
A-League Average: AU$661325
11 Wise Men: AU$477200

Or in other words, the average defender in A-League this season is worth 10k under your highest value defender (in magical form)

So yes, marks and value are misleading, but I think I'd rather be a forward in NZ Premier than in A-League .

Are you saying that an australian team could beat my #1 side?
2007-10-08 10:49:18
*grins*

No, I'm saying that it looks to me like the defences of NZ premier are easier to score against. So, you'd expect strikers in NZ to score more goals if they were equal to the Australian strikers. (They look quite a bit better, so you'd expect even more goals)

Now that you ask, I think an Australian team _could_ beat your #1 side. I don't think any Aussie team would go into that match as a favourite though.

I was pretty impressed with the 38 from Byers. Then I noticed that he scored 19 of his 38 goals against the 2 bot teams. Another 19 from the 10 against human opponents is very nice all the same.
2007-10-08 10:55:47
Yeah i'm not particularly happy about that statistic, pretty happy that Bodger remained 3rd equal after being injured a lot though
2007-10-08 10:59:08
Injuries to pet players suck. At least Bodger isn't in any danger of losing his place in the NZ NT as a result of his injuries though.
2007-10-08 11:16:09
why must the joint top scorer in div III be in my league T-T
2007-10-08 13:47:46
full team friendly? :)
2007-10-08 15:56:36
League II.03, again crowned strongest div II league. [party]
