Upgrade the head coach (unearthly for striker) even if I am only training striker this season? I usually buy a new coach when I switch to pace/technique.
Assistants are due for an upgrade. I need to see how much I can afford now that the wages of my team has gone up quite a bit.

The main thing in upgrading your coach is the general training your players will receive on the critical skills.
I'd even go 1 step further than dandy and say your main coach (as a long term striker trainer) should be:
Unearthly Stamina
Unearthly Pace
Unearthly Tech
Unearthly Striking
Outstanding+ Passing/PM/Defense
He'll cost more each week but he'll be worthwhile due to the following reasons:
1) The improved flexibility of being able to train whichever striker skill you want without having to swap coaches
2) You'll save money as you will not have to find/buy a replacement coach each time you swap, and you don't need to pay to say the outgoing coach.
3) Getting a great coach is an investment that will have you reaping the profits in the future. Your trainees will train better and pop more.
Think about it. You pay an extra 10k a week on the head coach plus an additional 15k or so on 3 improved assistants, but you will have 6 or 10 trainees training much faster, which means:
a) you'll have more fun playing and training in sokker;
b) you can sell your players for a bigger profit; and
c) your scottish NT hopefuls will reach their full potential.
And for the point about making more profit, i am not talking about small amounts here, but i'm talking about taking the step up and making real money.
If you have a top trainee you must give him top training to keep him ahead of the curve, keep him special. It's only these special players that sell for the big bucks. If you don't give him the best training possible he won't ever fulfil his potential. He'll grow slower than he should and will slip back into the crowd.
Basically since i've been playing sokker i've always lived by the logic that if you have the right trainees you can't spend too much on coaching as you'll always make it back and then some. And by the way, that new striker trainee of yours is definitely the right sorta trainee ;)
I can see you selling him for a small fortune in the future (with the right training) ;)

So, these skills
Unearthly Stamina
Unearthly Pace
Unearthly Tech
Unearthly Striking
Outstanding+ Passing/PM/Defense
should be for the head coach? When I read the rules ages ago (or some newbie sites?) I understood that the head coach onle needs to have the highest maximum in the skill that you are training (but it doesn't matter if his overall coaching skill is just weak) and that the assistants should have the highest possible overall coach skill to ensure that the passive/general training of secondary skills is fast. Now, if I understand you correctly, you imply that the main coach also speeds up the training of secondary skills if he is, e.g. unearthly in pace while I am training strikers?
I am happy to invest as much as I can afford into my coach staff but I want to understand what it's worth for :)

thats for the head coach.
Basically those newbie guides you read where we tell people to buy a 1 unearthly skilled coach is for those brand new joiners who can't afford anything better.
Any manager who's been playing for a bit should upgrade when they can afford it as there is a big improvement in training.
But your other understanding is correct. Head Coach's individual sub skills are whats important for him and affect not only the skill you are training but all other skills you are not training (the general training).
For the assistants, it is only the overall coach skill that is important. If you never need to swap out your head coach, you would want your assistants to be as even as possible, with ideally no skills at unearthly (this pushes up their wages) and a lowish keeper skill (coach keeper skill costs more than other skills).
So for an incredible assistant coach, you might want a coach who looks roughly like the following to keep his wage down:
incredible coach
Training effectiveness:
brilliant of stamina very good of keeper
brilliant of pace incredible of defender
outstanding of technique incredible of playmaker
magical of passing outstanding of striker
if you add up his skills:
14+14+12+15+9+13+13+12 = 102
and divide by 8: 102/8 = 12.75
So he would be an incredible coach (rounded to 13). of course there are sub skills involved too...
what level of assistants are you considering?
And actually, how much profit do you usually make over 2 weeks?

Thanks a lot for these details! Ok, first thing to do is to buy a proper head coach. I was looking at outstanding assistants. Last season I've been making around £50k profit over 2 weeks time. This season it will be less, given that my wages increased. So this will put some natural limits on the level of assistants I can buy.
I agree with what the others have siad, you have a brilliant Youth there who your country really could do with being trained to the max. Trainers like the above mentioned will really increase the amount of randoms he gets, plus decrease the length of proper training pops. He could be a real monster imo. Good luck. ;)

Alright alright... I am already bidding for better coaches :-) No, seriously, I was not aware of this flaw in my training setup, otherwise I'd have fixed it earlier!
Well you certainly have the player to make it worthwhile. ;)
I hate you with jealousy. lol
