Huge disappointment after this match. It seemed that such a number of situations must bring goals. Nothing like that happened, and the bad feeling came as early as the 5th minute. Milligan does not score a penalty and I knew that the match would not end well.
I would play the next match in the same way. From the beginning I reckoned with the possibility of losing a goal - I let go of covering the wingers in favor of increasing the offensive power. The result was more ball possession, more play in the opponent's half and an advantage in the situations created (13-5). And so what...?
The 14th minute and a great situation for MacLeister - unused. Australia has an almost identical situation in the 27th minute - it was threatening....
Later we create a lot of situations and control the match. In addition, from the 60th minute we play on the power play because one of the Australians gets a red.
Very big advantage on our side but lack of effectiveness. 88th minute and a corner kick for Australia ends with a goal.
In the 89th minute the ball is taken away from the winger by Wilkinson. I don't know what came up in his mind, but he decides to leave his opponent alone and moves to attack himself. His clumsy offensive action and leaving the Australian winger ends with the opponent having a highway to our goal after the loss, a centering and 0:2.
To this day, I do not know what happened in this match. It must be admitted that the opponent scored elaborate goals - not some accidental ones

The match against Bulgaria was a match in which any result other than a victory for George Hagi's compatriots would have been a huge surprise. The Bulgarians confirmed their superiority in player training and won 3:1. We, on the other hand, tried to oppose the favorites, after losing the first goal we quickly equalized. Despite the advantage of the Bulgarians for a large part of the match, I hoped that there might be some surprise. we created some situations - unfortunately, the shortcomings in the training of our ATT meant that we were not even able to finalize these actions with a shot.
Despite appearances, this match was not so bad - it gave a lot to analyze and work on tactics.

The match against the World Cup medalist was quite good in our performance. Hardly, I feel quite unsatisfied because the beginning of the match was truly electrifying.
Already in the 2nd minute of the match Hislop showed off a dangerous shot from a distance. Corner kick, confusion under the goal and the Finns knocked the ball out.
In the 6th minute, a centering pass into the penalty area is sent by MacMonies and McGhee takes an instant shot. Again the opponent's goalkeeper deflects the ball, which Hislop oi reaches and misses from 2 meters. Later, another situation has McGhee however his shot flies high over the goal. Maybe if he played rugby....?
The midfield line did well where MacMonies and MacAdie tried to create more action.
Everything fell apart in the 25th minute. MacMonies gets injured and walks off the field. The Finns make changes and gain the upper hand. The match evens out but by the end of the first half it still looks pretty good. The second half is a lot of chaos. However, the opponent carries out an effective and quite good action in the 64th minute. We lose a goal and such a result remains until the end.

I approached the match against Lithuania on the principle of saying goodbye to departing players. We played a very even match against an opponent that is higher ranked. It's a shame that we didn't manage to win, surely the departing players would have had more fun. The result of 1:1 is not bad and gave another points in the ranking.
