Another ugly match imo, this was tough to watch, idk if this is the new match engine also, but i don't like it at all. The jumping ball on the bad pitch condition is anoying :-) Obviously I didn't expect the opponent to play 5 defs and this close to penalty area (and they didn't move from there) and i positioned my defenders the same way so the strikers had tough job ..only 5 shots on both sides, we didn't really have any opportunity at all, we could loose in 89th minute by the mistake of our defense.
I expect Bolivia to be significantly better and not this defensive, anyway we recorded some impressive marks today but the performance don't refelect that very much..

Congratulations for a fine first season in charge, LaBamba.

Here are some details of the season:

Played 16, won 9, drew 4, lost 3, scored 31, conceded 8.

That's the joint second most wins in the 11 seasons the u21 side has been active. A lot of that success was due to good match selection.

3 losses for the season is a new record. The previous lowest was 5.

31 goals is not a lot (our record is 60) but it was still the 4th best to date.

8 goals conceded is just incredible, by far a new record and one that will be hard to match. The previous record was 22. As part of that, the side kept 12 clean sheets! Our previous best was 7.

Very well done! Now we will see if that form can be carried over into the tough World Cup qualifying campaign.

Quite some impressive results, indeed.

By the way MarcL, do you keep a record of all those statistics?

I've got a notebook with all the u21 results. I have written down some of the senior team results but it's far from complete.

Of course I tried to pick reasonable opponents before the season to get us some wins and improve our rankings.
The 8 conceded goals doesn't surprise me, because our defenders last season were really worldclass especially for our little NT. Not to mention that 5 of those goals came in the match against Hong Kong where our defender received red card. We conceded total of 3 (!!!) goals in another 15 matches:-) But I'm afraid I won't be breaking this record any time soon as our defense is completely falling apart next season ..

We also should have beat Cameroun, Island and mainly Mexico, match that we've lost and that I'm still pissed off about..

I hope we will get some nice results in the WCQ, although I didn't like our performance in last 2 matches very much..

The complete match schedule is ready for this season, you can check it on our U21 main page..In friendlies we'll play 4 African teams, my Czech mate from Kypros and we will finsish the season in Pilipinas..

Thabiso Ledwaba will be on TL in 2-3 weeks, he is a monster striker at 19, I would like to buy him preferably instead of Pitakathi who unfortunately doesn't seem to have a great talent, but I don't think I'll have the money for him..have to find a good buyer..
