Ok so this is how you set up a tactic and it works to an absolute perfection :-) Finally we were on the other end as the luckier team. Wales outplayed us as expected (their MIDs marks, 54,57,62,68!!), but our 5 defenders hold their own, despite some boneheaded plays (that pass across our penalty area from Olivier) and Manyathi was our hero today as he saved at least 2 goals with great saves. I'm glad I put 5 defs as Theunissen neutralized that star winger, without 5 defs it could get ugly..
We clearly missed Matsau and his passing, Hendricks is not on his level, Felix has tragic form, Molefe was slightly injured and Methula was slow and useless in the 1st half. He came to life in the 2nd half as their wing defender was loosing stamina and pace and played exactly as I always hoped he would, made some nice drives and most importantly passed directly to our 2 goals. Talking about our strikers!!! 2 shots, 2 goals:-) They were clearly motivated to prove us wrong. Sithole was useless otherwise, but he had tough job today and most importantly he did what he was suppose to do, score a goal from Methula's cross :-) Same with Ludick.
As I'm thinking about it, I broke several rules of mine, playing 2 players in tragic form, including striker, 1 player with slight injury and 5 defenders which i don't like either and this is how sokker rewarded me. With my biggest victory so far for South Africa against far superior team! :-)

1 more thing Kalaka's substitution as I kinda expected didn't work, may be the change in the 2nd condition should came later..

Brilliant result! Well done.

Awesome result! Keep it up! Maybe we will never replace you as coach;)

Thanks guys I appriciate it, I definitely would like to stick around longer since I like the job and I like to make long term plans with our squad. I even like to work with youngsters more than with seniors, so I don't have any NT coach aspirations yet.. which leads me to a complain, I'm kinda disapointed we don't hear anything from our NT coach..

Our U21 reached 70. place in the World rankings, the highest so far with me as a coach, I think I improved 5 spots so far, hopefully with couple more wins we get into 60's..:-)

I have to agree. Our NT coach could really communicate with us a bit more.

A bit? :-D He didn't say a word here since the election :-)

Review vs Belarus:

So another more than deserved victory against Belarus :-) Deep defense really helped us, since we created lot of pressure and played the whole match on their half (77%!!!) and our defenders easilly stole the ball from behind and didn't allow any breaks:-) It was complete domination, despite relatively even marks and ratings..Our striker(s) sucked as usual (missed chances, penalty, necessary cross bar). Niang was probably not the best choice, but I wanted to try another strikers today and he did score our winning goal at the end.
Masenia clearly has interesting technique, although we'll probably never know as long as he stays with his current manager, who is totally ignoring my requests for update..
I was more disappointed with our MIDs than strikers today, there were a lot, a lot of missed bad passes, it was pretty painfull to watch..To make things even "better" we had another long injury as Molefe is out for 18 days:-(( This also lead to Kalaka's earlier substitution and his set condition (change place with Molefe) didn't work again for 2nd straight match:-)
With Molefe out we at least need Felix and Sithole to snap out of their tragic forms..

Good summary. Well deserved win but our strikers... ouch.... any goal they score is more luck than skill. Like I said, they aim for the woodwork and sometimes they miss and score instead. ;)

haha it really seems the way you describe :-) This time 2 cross bars again..:-) They are making competition among themselves who hits more woodwork in the season..

Review vs Nippon:

Definitely lots of offsides today:-) Both teams played deep defenses which made the game ugly in times and it screwed up our positioning on their half. 6:0 and 17:1 shots speaks for themselves, it could have ended in double digits also, although 2 Japanese red cards made things much easier for us and really opened the game in second half getting our strikers opportunities to "shine":-) This time Sithole wasted most of his chances and Ludick had a canon in his leg, those were some powerfull shots, especially that 2nd goal from 20 metres:-) MID Methula also scored 2 goals today:-)

Bad news is 3rd card for Matsau who will be sorely missed in the next prestigious match against fellow countryman Marek0090 and his Kypros squad, especially with the format we will play (2x18, 3x19, 3x21 except GK, rest U20)

I watched this.. It was terrible for watching :D I think 15 offsides, or more :-) But perfect score, congratulation mate ;)
