Carna [del] para Todos
Hey all,

after several seasons without NT experience I'm willing to coach a national team again. My NT experience so far:

2x Belgium NT coach
5x Zhongguo NT coach
Lots of background work aswell.

Due to a lack of time I had to focus on my own team the past seasons. And with success, I managed to become champion in 2nd division in Belgium and last season I even won the Belgian Cup. I'd like to use this experience, tactical skills and knowledge in general, to achieve some nice results with South Africa. Since I am a moderator, activity won't be an issue. I've achieved some decent progress with China, thanks to a regular check-up of player's training etc in order to prepare them for the senior team.

That's what you can expect from me: tactically innovative, a regular check-up of 'almost senior NT'-players and if there is need to, some previews/reviews or basic communication in general.

I regret the shortage of active users of course, but regarding recent attempts which were clearly in vain, gathering new users is imo a closed chapter.

I'd be glad to become your coach if there isn't any other appropriate manager stepping forward.

Questions? Just ask.

Cheers,
Carna

Hi Carna.

It must be quite some experience to manage a NT for a place like China with a completely different language.

You mentioned that you achieved some decent progress there, but I see that they're still ranked 72 despite having substantially more players than us (rank 49). What do see an the reason for this gap, and what makes you want to try your hand at managing the NT of a country with only 4/5 active managers? It's quite a step down from Belgium! :)

Believe me, it was. :)

Well, I think you misunderstood what I really meant with 'progress'. When I was coach out there, we were ranked a bit higher, just for your interest. :p But anyway, I meant progress on player level. When I became coach in China, there was no database, no record of youthplayers, ... I started from scratch. I managed to obtain a decent record of every Chinese player who was close to a selection in the national team squad. I kept a record of young players with a certain level of potential in order to give them an appropriate training schedule. Many of those players are now playing for the senior squad. Rating increased in 5 seasons from 45 tot 65 and now it's over 70. The squad is ready, the check-up of young, talented players is being continued by the current coach and his staff, so imo results and increase of rank won't take that much time anymore. On tactical level, China has had some issues in the past.. Managers with not that much experience become all of a sudden NT coach which didn't help if it comes to the ranking of course. South Africa on the contrary has a lot less players, it has obviously not the potential of China, but thanks to some decent coaches and fine results you managed to maintain a decent position in the ranking whereas China kept on losing against weaker teams.

and what makes you want to try your hand at managing the NT of a country with only 4/5 active managers? It's quite a step down from Belgium! :)

Quite a good remark you made there. First of all, the national team in Belgium doesn't get that much interest. Belgium did not qualify for next season's World Cup, but nobody cares really.. With loczenty Belgium will have a decent coach next season anyway. I'm the kind of person who's always in for something new, something totally different. I'd like to gain some extra knowledge by accepting new challenges. Like this one for exemple. I have to be honest, if you'd have asked me some weeks ago for my plans for next season, participating the elections in South Africa wasn't my main goal. Recently I convinced myself of accepting a new challenge and since there wasn't anything decided yet over here, I took the shot.

Thanks for applying in SA elections:-)

Would you be willing to train some NT/U21 talents yourself? Do you know some managers who will be willing to do so, becase SA don't have a very strong player base and every wasted player is a big problem..So basically training of every prospect is absolutely crucial for any improvement..

How about pregame/postgame posts, how often will you inform us about the situation in NT?

Of course I am willing to do so. I'm training midfielders at the moment, so if there is a player available who fits in my schedule, I'll definitely consider buying him. And when I was coach in China, I promoted every (potential) senior NT/U21 player who was listed or on advertisement. Some Chinese players were bought by Belgian managers and were (and still are) trained very well. It's very important indeed to give the little talented players the training schedule they need.

To be honest, I'm not the kind of guy who'll make big (p)reviews with nice lay-out and stuff. Less talking, more achieving ;) But don't get me wrong, of course a community who choses you to become their national team coach deserves to know what goes on around their national team. So I'll inform you on a regular base about upcoming games, listed or advertised players, brief (p)reviews, etc. If I get elected, I can assure you that you won't feel lonely anymore. ;) Furthermore, there absolutely has to be a certain communication/understanding between U21 and senior NT coaches, otherwise the whole NT thing won't work out since the senior NT depends a lot on the U21.

Thanks for your reply.

I think communication is more important with this comunity than actual results so I hope you would provide us both if you win and may be you have to convince yourself to work harder on some (p)reviews :-)

Anyway I definitely have some MID prospects from previous U21 team for you already, we had some great MIDs like Felix or Methula who can make the NT team if trained properly and in our current U21 there are some nice MID trainees also..:-)

Concerning communication on NT/U21 level, that won't be a problem from my part..

Well, I will communicate in the same way as you're doing right now. This means I'll write every week a preview (in the association forum of course) about the upcoming game in which I will talk about the opponent and players and tactic I'll use. A brief review will be provided the day afterwords. If there is any new information about whatever may be related to your national team, I will certainly mention it around here. Finally I'll always be listening to anything that may concern you, this is for exemple tactic failure, player choice, ...

Nice! I'd be glad to train one of South Africa's youngsters and give him the training he needs. Currently some money left and also a training spot open for next season.

Neither from my part, so that won't be a problem at all ;-)

Thanks for your answers.

I think Marc and perhaps other SA guys have something to think about this elections :-)
2012-05-26 22:05:21
I think La Bamba hit the nail on the head there. Communication is very important (even if we are only 4-5 active managers). The results are also important, but if you show through your communication that you have true commitment in assisting us becoming a better overall NT you are way better in our books than a manager that can guarantee us victories in every game, but possess little to no communication skills. I don't comment/post as often in the forums as MarcL, but I guarantee you that I read every post. Anyway, good luck in the elections!
2012-05-26 22:12:17
First of all, thanks a lot. And it's nice to know there is also someone else, next to MarcL who regulary checks this forum. I hope you will not only read, but give your opinion as well, when necessary. It's very useful for a national team coach to get some feedback.

And I understand that communication is very important around here. You've had quite a disappointing season regarding the shortage of communication. The current NT coach didn't say anything during the season, so I clearly understand the fact you keep on emhasizing that there has to be enough communication from the new coach. Well, I can guarantee you I will very often (if I need to, everyday) post here about recent news going on in your national team. I know there won't be an awful lot of people who will read it, but I am willing to do so for those 3-4 manager who do check their forum once in a while. And as said before, your feedback would be nice of course. ;)

Rapelego en Mosa listed by the way. Despite their age, still very useful players imo.

Can someone explain me why pallone (who only registered 1 year ago) has received 1 vote?
2012-05-28 16:21:36
Something telse me this guy voted for him (self)...? You are MOD go look deeper in it..some people like to base their teams in other countries around election time for obvious reasons..
2012-05-28 16:30:06
1. a MOD doesn't have sufficient power to check this. ;)
2. And even if it was possible, I am not allowed to do it myself since I am participating the elections myself.
2012-05-28 16:31:31
I highly doubt any of our 5 active members would have voted for someone we've never heard of before.

We've had this sort of thing happen before, just a couple of seasons ago.
2012-05-28 16:39:30
Well, it won't be a problem if there are some other votes still upcoming, for revillo or me or whoever you guys want to be your next coach.
