Only the game against Pilipinas was a real disappointment despite the fact we could 've easily got a draw there.. I'll check later what went wrong.

We've beaten the Azeri's last season, so I think 3rd place is a very reasonable objective for the upcoming season. Italy and Sweden are quite hard to beat, though.. but if you check today's game against Holland it's clear we could grab a surprise win if everythings goes according to plan and luck is on our side. But let's stay modest and just try to get that 3rd place!

Not a bad group at all..but it will be very tough. Our key players must have a form (I'm talking to you Ashley Champion) then we might have a chance..

Exactly my point. Ashley Champion in decent form would allow us to play with a winger.. at the moment we don't have any other suitable winger which makes us kind of predictable.

True, but on the other hand wingers are dying breed especially on the NT level..look at the tactics at last WC..I was watching Czech wingers today against Wales and they were annoying :-) It is still nice option though, but not as overpowerfull as before.
And I don't think we will have any upcoming world class winger in the future too. I'm going to train Methula and Matsau as off MIDs, I think they will be more usefull this way.
The problem is also with strikers, there is no superstar so we are both predictible and weak on offense :-) Which makes 3 goals against the Dutch even more impressive :-)

True story about the use of wingers. Regarding the current ME wingers aren't an option unless they are positioned perfectly and they get some freedom from the opponent. And even then it's really hard to be fully effective since it looks that it's very difficult to score from headers these days. If you are -being an opponent- completely certain we won't use any wingers, it's quite easy to defend. On the other hand, I'm trying some new stuff with 2 strikers who go often wide into the space. Today for exemple we could've had some more opportunities if our strikers would've gone wider sometimes. And if it comes to strikers, we do have some 3x unearthly ones, but they seriously lack secondaries though which makes them not that effective.

And Methula and Matsau shouldn't be trained as pure wingers indeed.

Regarding strikers I've had great experience using 3 strikers in our U21 matches this season, granted it's completely different level, but I think we won all matches that way :-)
Also my league (basically as strong as Czech 1st division) was won by 3 striker tactic team, something that won't be as easy in the old ME...I think it might be more dangerous in the new ME than before..especially if you put midfielders wide and they pass from side to side, the "auto defense" makes the defenders kinda "floating" and there can be lot of space between them..

It's just a thought..

I try to take care of both Methula and Matsau (hope soon will be mine also) as well as I can and train them until 26-27..

Btw. Soon you should be making room for the 22 y generation (Matsau, Molefe, Cole and perhaps Olivier) :-)
