So we are... in the knockout stage? Nailbiter vs Cuba, could have gone either way - 4:2 in our favor in the end.

Nice to see my Wenger give his 1st assist for the U21. I'd still swap him for Zallinger (or someone else in your rooster) for the last 20 minutes or so if you have nothing better to do.

We managed to advance to play-off with dramatic game against Cuba. This 'new' tactics prove to be somewhat efficient against Cuba and helped us advance further into the tournament. Despite being the underdog in our group (lowest rated team), we showed others that Austria is not to be underestimated! Now the only thing that remains is to wait for our next opponent.

Sad loss for us today as Czechia had all the luck in the world in this match. Wouldn't it be for this great Sokker engine, we'd right now be celebrating the advancement to later stages of World Cup. I don't think we deserved to lose this match as we had much greater chances throughout the game. No other comments at this moment, I suggest you watch the match yourselves.

Congratulations you prepared your team very well. In the first part of match you had situations to score goals, but when I used additional tactics I could block you better. I think that we could play penalties but sokker engine decided... Good luck in the next matches because you are very good coach and I think that in the future Austria will be very strong team :-)

you did your best. think we were the better team in the first half, but some guys clearly ran out of steam in the 2nd when they faced fresh czech attackers.

both ganz and wenger had their opportunity to shine when they sent maurerbauer on his way, too bad he ran into the gk instead of scoring both times.

Friendly match against the Netherlands was played under the agreement, that both teams will have U20 players on their starting eleven. As Austria don't really have that many U20 players at the moment, I tried to keep the average age as low as possible to assure fairness. We had plenty of chances, even a penalty, but luck was just not on our side today and we have to take the tie against higher ranked opponent. As we don't really have any important matches ahead of us, I'll mostly let younger players show their potential. I'll make sure to show you guys my coaching abilities in the DACH tournament later this season, so make sure to keep an eye on that as well.

Yes, the thing with age was agreed upon beforehand.

And yes, you warned me, but how else is the guy supposed to be mentally prepared for important matches if not by playing in national matches himself :D He did really good for a 19-year old.

Are you planning with Schaumberger as a defender? He is getting trained for midfield.

Not really, if trained well, he can be key winger at the national team, he just fitted well into the defensive plan this match.

any specific reason you put zallinger (10/10) in the defensive line? are our defenders so bad?
and why not use wenger (11/11) instead?

It's funny but Austria has little to no defenders, so I was basically forced to do so. Wenger was thought about when choosing defenders, but his playmaking (10), made him stay in the midfield.
