Mentors. What do they do and how possibly could I get one?
Well the mentor program here is pretty informal, some would say halfhearted, I'm supposed to be running it but I'm a lazy bum so...
But there's a lot of really good experienced managers around who can help you by answering any questions you have and offering advice/strategies and so on.
I'll ask around and get somebody to contact you, you can always send a mail to me in the meantime with any questions, be happy to help. Just off the top of my head, people like Dagwood, jonandabby, Dennis54 and Slammmy are good to contact also. You can find them by using the Search button on the left hand panel.

Hi guys, I'm new here...
I was wondering about a mentor as well, seems the most sensible thing to do as it's all a bit overwhelming and I don't know what does what.
Are there any beginners guides out there, and/or people willing to help? I'm not looking for anything special, just a few tips on what to do and what not to do in the first few weeks.
Thanks!

Hey mate, I'll send you a basic newbie welcome mail in a sec, it will have some info and links.
There is also this guide done by a Welsh user:
http://online.sokker.org/forum_topic.php?ID_forum=24854&ID_topic=2515089&pg=1
Hopefully somebody will volunteer to mentor you, but there's not a ton of active users here so that might not happen.
My advice would be to make sure you read the rules first, then give some of the newbie guides a look, take a look at Slammmy's in particular if you want something focused, short and practical:
http://online.sokker.org/forum_topic.php?ID_forum=24851&ID_topic=2465448&pg=0#new
And if at any point during or after that reading you have some questions or need something explained better you can ask here in this forum or send me a mail.
Anyway welcome to the game, it's a great game just requires a little effort to get started and figure it all out.
