as i said before in the last part of my sentences, they could because now they have sources/money to make their history, although their approach for a player they want are irritating to see (trying to get other club's target by put down a 50-100% more money than what the players itself bargain for..) ;)

and yeah, honestly, i put more respect to the old chelsea team. wise, zola, le saux, hughes, were really play for the club not for their wage.

Is it a less irritating approach when "old big ones" press their target players to claim "unhappiness" and a resolution to leave so the transfer may become cheaper?

In any case, borkos speaks for me: there can't be a deadline to be a rich team, and past that you're forced to be a poor club forever :P If you want all teams to be like Athletic Bilbao, OK, you can complain about all big clubs in the wolrd. But if you want them to be like Real Madrid or AC Milan, well, the "newcomers" are exactly of that kind...

yes it is still not a good way,,but by this way didn't make the players price going crazy more than what their are bargain for thus trying everything to avoid their expensive player from injury by reject a NT call-up..

If you give it a closer look, you will see that Chelsea did not ruin the transfer market. Their only overpaid transfer was Torres...and well - he came with a 'normal' price for such player.

Cole - 5m + W. Gallas
Essien - 24m and worth every penny
Robben - 18m, if he wasn't so injury prone...
Joe Cole - 6m, bargain
Drogba - 24m, worth every penny

and the list goes on. no overpaying, each transfer was fine. If someone destroyed the transfer market, then it was Real Madrid, together with Barca. Check how much these two teams paid, thanks to bank loans.

yep, the transfer fee chelski did no match with the one that madrid and barca also man.city did. . don't forget that they also got michael ballack for free.. and he was a key player for them for several years.
