You are forgetting one important fact, that refs don`t have replays. We can rewind and play the video hundred times, but referee has to make the decision in milliseconds. That Alves incident with Pepe happened very fast.

about 2 years ago in croatia it was very similar situation - leg was broken in 4 places!!!
