Asunto: Fantasy Premier League 2010-11

Def from Newcastle? Crazy British you are indeed ;)

Nolan is fine, I was thinking about him but went with Zoggy. Carroll is overrated and won't score much.
2010-07-21 21:18:26
haha yeah, but you're pretty much guaranteed 0-0's at home to bolton/wigan/blackpool and he's cheap for his quality, same for Carroll, he could hit good form again - there's talk of him being in the next England squad so if we start doing well, he'll be scoring and nolan gets plenty of goals and assists :)
2010-07-21 21:30:11
Well yeah, but him being in the England selection is caused only by the lack of strong, tall woodies in England - Heskey's presence at the WC says it all ;)
2010-07-21 21:59:26
or anyone that can hit a barn door from 5 yards, at least if Barton and Carroll were selected we could trust them to hit something.

or someone

Drogba - Rooney is my tandem in attack :)

Guys,

You need to do some research and NOT rely on last season or rumours.
There are some very good forums where people who play FPL share information.
Here is one I heartily recommend www.fiso.co.uk.

Player choices;
1. I wouldn't touch any of the 3 new promoted team players. Most of them are completely untested and despite reasonable performance in the Championship, are not good enough for the EPL. Their fixtures are also not that exciting at the start.
2. Rooney is a bit broken and SAF already said he'll be rested early in the season. Drogba might also be rested but that depends on his hernia problem.
3. There are a lot of new exciting players which could be great but could also turn out to be duds. There are Hernandez, Chamakh, Barrera, Hizlsperger... let's hope they will do better than Jimenez who joined last season with great hopes and did nothing.
4. There are teams to watch who might do better than expected like Westham and Bolton, teams which might do worse like Stoke, Fulham and Birmingham and complete unknowns like Liverpool who already got Joe Cole and have Figueroa and more on the way.
5. Look at players who move to other teams... Cole, Sol Campbell, Bramble, Schwatzer. Missing players like Cech who is injured and might affect the whole Chelsea performance.

Here in this thread we can discuss things; news and ideas and not just state our squad names...
Good luck.

@borkos and astonp
i got simpson and routledge on my bench

@ultra_rosso_nero
weak, i have rooney tevez and drogba :P

@rogironfist
some newcastle players should be fairly decent, given that it wasn't that long ago when they were in the premier league. it helps that they come cheap too :)

i surely hope my holy trinity of strikers won't be rested for the start of the league :O gonna keep my eyes and ears peeled to see how they do in preseason

quite a few star performers from the wc coming to the premier league this season, but i would keep my hands off them until they prove that they can adapt to english football

god i hope figueroa and schwarzer doesnt move, they've been pretty solid at their current clubs and regular starters, i dont want bench warmers on my team :(
2010-07-22 11:19:51
Wenger wasn't too sure about bring Schwartzer in... I think it's a management desire
Figueroa shouyld move to Lpl... now that Bramble has moved to Sunderland, Wigan are left somewhat depleated
Joe Cole anyone?

id be a bit wary of picking spurs players as well, they have a big squad and a lot of games with the champs league qualifying so there's no telling who will actually play the league games and that they will do well, same for Man City players. Villa players will score a lot for playing the games because they have a small squad but they could also do badly with no depth and no signings.

Hitzlspergers played in the PL before and didnt do all that much at villa, scored a few screamers but that was about it.

He is actually doing pretty well in the pre-season games. Scored too. :) But yes, it still remains to be seen how well he does.
It's true about Spurs, Citeh and AVL players... too much or too little rotation. Might screw up a lot of people who picked Bale who is now classified as a midfielder which eliminates a chuck of his point scoring potential. If Bellamy joins Spurs, it will further reduce his FPL potential.
I think that the surprise teams of this season will be WHM, BOL and maybe EVE. I expect though BIR, SUN and FUL to do worse. WOL is also an interesting prospect and will be a serious threat once Hunt is fit again. He is injured atm.

yeah i think west ham will do much better than last season, was tempted to put nouble in my team, he's scored a couple with the U19s already at the euro's but its too much of a gamble. Not sure about Bolton, Everton normally do quite well anyway, Fulham and Bitmingham will no doubt be crap along with west brom and wolves. I think Blackpool might do something good like Hull did in their first season.

Another thing is trying to pick the midfielders who take penalties and freekicks, thats why i picked Milner and Nolan, but Milner looks like he's moving now so need another now.
2010-07-22 15:39:58
Fulham will be average this season, Birmingham doesn't have enough quality.

I can see Everton getting near the top 5, with Aston Villa and The Hammers achieving top 8-9
2010-07-22 20:38:40
Anyone who knows there is a fantasy primera div?
2010-07-23 06:22:08
danny welbeck and tom cleverly likely to go on loan at a premiership team this season for first team football, might be a good bargain here and there
2010-07-23 12:02:02
Made a team. Team name is identical to the one here in sokker.

Don't expect to much of it though. Has been a while since I've actively followed PL
