Asunto: 2012 Africa Cup of Nations

Qualification started recently for the 28th African Cup of Nations to be held jointly by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The 11 group winners will qualify along with the best 3 runners up.

Mauritania have withdrawn from group F, leaving only 3 teams there while Togo were re-instated a while back into group K which now has 5 teams. I'm not sure how those two groups will have their scores modified in terms of calculating the best runners up.

There have been a couple of surprises in the first round of matches already, not least of which is Egypt (Champions for the last 3 tournaments) being held at home 1-1 by Sierra Leone.
