Asunto: Football shame !

2010-12-03 18:18:26
+ they don't exactly have the biggest stadiums, Camp Nou, Bernabeu, Mestalla etc..
2010-12-03 18:58:00
okay, granted the german stadiums are bigger. But only because they were all done up for the WC in 06.

Spanish ones arent any bigger tbf but the English ones are better. I'd much rather be in the Emirates/wembley/st james/OT than at the top of the camp nou.

In 1986 Columbia got originally the World Cup, but they gave up; Mexico was only a quick replacement.
2010-12-04 11:38:18
I agree. In 2018 you would have:
Wembley
Old Trafford
The Emirates
Stanley Park (a WC in England would provide the extra incentive)
St James' Park(@sportsdirect.com, not Exeter)
City of Man Stadium
Stadium of Light
Olympic Stadium
St. Mary's
Villa Park

Plus the Mestalla is a wreck now, saw that before Man U went there. Valencia can't afford the stadium in construction, or to do up the Mestalla.

Whereas in Russia:
Luzhniki Stadium (78,000)
then:
Dynamo Stadium (36,000)

ridiculous, plus the fact that the country is so big there will be huge lengths to travel between games...
2010-12-04 11:46:42
there is a new mestalla planned and half constructed, but with the crisis you kow

fifa is not about football. For the game (and the players and the fans) England, Spain/Portugal, Holland/Belgium were the better choices. Fifa only cares about money. That's why Russia won.

And Qatar ... even more money for the fifa.

It's simple.

okay, granted the german stadiums are bigger. But only because they were all done up for the WC in 06.

Again not true. There was only very few work on the stadiums for the WC.
2010-12-04 19:21:14
well, 5 of the top 8 stadiums in germany opened in the 6 years leading up to that WC.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_stadiums_in_Germany
2010-12-05 02:31:23
1st. Only 4 of those 8 were new.
2nd Only 6 of them were used for the WC.
3rd They were mainly financed by private investors and the Clubs that are using them for their league matches.
4th They would have been built whether there had been a WC or not.
2010-12-05 03:57:29
still proves you were talking utter crap though if half of them were in fact new.
England has Wembley, Emirates, Old Trafford, St James', Anfield, Villa Park, Elland road, Hillsborough, stadium of light and quite a few more that are 40k capacities and thats ones that are already there.
Spurs and Liverpool are getting new ones and there's the Olympic stadium.

England has the best stadiums in the world. Fact. We're the only country that could host a world cup at the drop of a hat and you can guarantee that the WC would come to England if anyone ever failed to deliver the promised stadia and infrastructure

I can't find German stadiums pre-2006 but many stadiums were opened specifically before the World Cup.

English stadiums are best in the world. Fact.

No reason for a discussion with people that are even admitting that they don't know much but still insist on knowing everything.
2010-12-05 17:56:32
well you said yourself 4 out of the top 8 were new. Make your mind up.
2010-12-05 18:02:42
And you obviously don't care to inform yourself about it.
They have mainly been paid by private investors and the clubs using them for league matches.
Furthermore one of them (as I mentioned) was not even used for the WC.

The reason they got built is that the clubs want to make more money. The attendance of the Bundesliga is higher than that of the Premier league since 2003/04. During the last season it was like 42k in average vs 34k in average.

Now make up your mind why new stadiums were built in Germany and the oh-so-great stadiums in England aren't even filled.
2010-12-05 19:06:13
because the prices are ridiculous? And we're in a recession? And half of our top stadiums arent in the premiership? The stadiums are better and bigger, end of.

But hey, dont let little things like facts get in the way mate.
2010-12-05 19:15:08
I never compared stadiums but unfortunately you're too ignorant to really read or even consider my points.
I said the Germans stadiums weren't built for the WC and the attendance is higher, that's all.

The problems of the Premier League and England itself are something else.
