Valenciano [del] para Todos
usually Japan plays this cup because receives an invitation, but this edition is not going to participate because the matters this country has.

So is Spain the country thas has received the invitation. The spanish federation has to choose if participate or not, is this July. it would be strange to see Spain playing AC along with Argentina, Brazil etc

Actually, it would be Japan's second participation, they're not invited that often :P But we do invite México, USA, and other CONCACAF teams all the time.

Simply: you have 352 countries per square kilometer :P You actually have to play qualifiers in order to cut most of them out and have a reasonable size tournament (you could go for more than 16, though).
We have 10 teams total. It's boring to have unbalanced groups, and is also boring to have 5-team groups where only the last one is out (or only the top 2 go directly to semis). So, we try to get a more enjoyable tournament by inviting CONCACAF teams, it's called "Copa América" after all, why not to play it with teams from all across America?
But then it's not always easy to reach an agreement with everybody, and Mr $$$ comes in and brings other guests, less American but more likely to deliver high TV revenues... Japan was the perfect example, specially when their professional football was beggining to take off.
Unless they finally convince Japan to change its decision, it is likely that Costa Rica will take its place. As Valenciano said, Spain's name was in the press, but it wasn't made official (probably because the attempt was unsuccesful :P).

Or is CONMEBOL afraid of what we did 10 years ago? xD

NO HONDURAS!!! Please!! =D

Well, I really like Copa America and the last 5 we won 4 and the last 2 against the hermanos!! \o/

The most remarkable one was in 2004. The Adriano's goal in the last minute was superb. I have never celebrate that much before, not even in 2002 or 1994.

Beating Argentina that way was priceless.

This year we will make history in their home. Who lives will see! \o/

Not a chance :P

I fear Uruguay, though, they tend to be such unpleasant guests!! :P
