What amazed me was that Andy Carroll cost £35million, and the whole of the Newcastle Starting XI from a few weeks ago cost £34.5million.
Just think of these players with these transfer fees (from when they were signed, obviously):
Hart (£600k) - Evra (£5.5m), Samba (£400k), Kompany (£6m), S. Taylor (YS at Newcastle) - Dempsey (£2m), T. Cahill (£1.5m), Etherington (£2m), Bale (£7m) - Van Persie (£2.75m), Hernandez (£6m).
Total of that squad: £33.75m
