Giles Goodhead, Us vs Them.

Not a great book, but fun to read.

8 derby's: Barcelona versus Real Madrid (Spain); Sparta versus Slavia (Prague), Rangers versus Celtic (Glasgow); Inter versus AC (Milan); America versus Guadalajara (Mexico City); Fenerbahce versus Galatasaray (Istanbul); Boca Juniors versus River Plate (Buenos Aires); Tottenham versus Arsenal (London).

Sorry buddy but yer talking total pish , there have been many many QUALITY football matches over the years , every team/game cant be awesome all the time so that staement just makes no sense whatsoever at all

Being Scottish i wish people would stop being pigheaded and ignorant and realise that not EVERY country is blessed to have stupid amounts of money flowing around , and until this changes (which it never will) things will never improve

I seen some stats recently , Blackpool recived 39.1m TELEVISION money last season , Rangers and Celtic recieved 2m each , how the hell can anyone expect quality and level competition at that rate ? its never gonna happen - EVER

Man Utd recieved over 100m last season for television money and premiership prize money , Rangers recieved 3.6m , bit of a difference huh lol

It is true, teams that go down the PL get a big more funds to keep their high waged players since they're not going to get enough gate receipts etc. in the Championship.

That is one of the reasons why PL is much more competetive than for example Primera Division where Barca&Real together get about 60% of all money and the rest 40% is divided between 18 teams.

id love to find it to show ye mate , but im without a pc as its goosed

I seen a program recently about it , in spain real madrid and barcelona recieve 140m euro each per season , whilst most other teams recieve between 20m-40m

The premier league tv money is well known across the world , only last week mick mcarthy (wolves manager) stated in a scottish paper ( the daily record ) that he would be stupid to ever manage in scotland as wolves recieve a minimum of £40m Television money , and the pittance of scottish football doesnt enitce anyone lol

Deep joy !

Aye, Barca and Real get to do their own deals with TV stations for their games, so get more. EPL has such a wide audience there's loads of money but it's pretty evenly spread, with the top clubs coming out recently saying it aint fair and they want to be able to do what barca and real do. Some of that EPL money gets put down the leagues as well i believe.

Rangers and Celtic dont really get a lot at all, SPL doesnt get shown bar celtic/rangers games, not a wide audience either, so tinpot money given and evenly given
