He was playing till last season. :P If he was even in the bench this season, it wouldnt surprise me if he was in the 25 list of players above. :P

Don't be too sure you won't win anything. You're in group A, which is by far the weakest group, so you definitely stand a chance. Maybe not a big one, but still.
2012-05-21 13:49:38
Yeah, Ceska and Poland aren't good at all.

No idea about the Russians, they were good some time ago, but now?
2012-05-21 14:02:14
in my opinion you will be 1st and Russia 2nd, but our NT can surprise! :-)

Polish players in Dortmund have awesome form... ;-)
2012-05-21 14:16:40
Yes, but we don't have a left defender, no central defenders [well...Serie B Glik from Torino] and weak central mids.

also, we don't really have a tactic :p at least you can't see it when watching them play :p
2012-05-21 14:23:14
I'm willing to bet your non-existing left defender will still be better than ours. :P
2012-05-21 14:24:46
we will use Boenisch who was injured for almost a year and played 2 or 3 games since then, in one he got a red card, in two other games he got the worst rating of all players from Kicker. Beat that ;-)
2012-05-21 14:31:35
At least you already know who will play. :P
It's still a mystery who will play leftback for us. It's a choice between a below average leftback or a decent def-mid. :/

names please :P

The squad:

Goal
- Tim Krul (Newcastle) - Maarten Stekelenburg (AS Roma) - Michel Vorm (Swansea City)

Defense
- Vurnon Anita (Ajax) - Khalid Boulahrouz (VfB Stuttgart) - Wilfred Bouma (PSV) - John Heitinga (Everton) - Joris Mathijsen (Málaga) - Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord) - Gregory van der Wiel (Ajax) - Jetro Willems (PSV)

Midfield
- Mark van Bommel (AC Milan/PSV) - Nigel de Jong (Manchester City) - Siem de Jong (Ajax) - Adam Maher (AZ) - Stijn Schaars (Sporting CP) - Wesley Sneijder (Internazionale) - Kevin Strootman (PSV) - Rafael van der Vaart (Tottenham Hotspurs)

Offense
- Ibrahim Afellay (Barcelona) - Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke 04) - Luuk de Jong (FC Twente) - Dirk Kuijt (Liverpool) - Jeremain Lens (PSV) - Luciano Narsingh (SC Heerenveen) - Robin van Persie (Arsenal) - Arjen Robben (Bayern München)

Out of these, possible candidates for the leftback position are:
- Vurnon Anita (who is more of a defmid, and not left footed)
- Jetro Willems (who is only 17(!) years old, and not at all used to this level as was evidenced earlier this season when PSV played at Valencia for the EL)
- Stijn Schaars (who is imo the least worst choice. He too is a defmid and not left footed)
- Khalid Boulahrouz (rightback, and overall just not good enough)
- Joris Mathijssen (central defender who hasn't played that much this season)

As always Nederlands has a weak defence and amazing rest of the team :p
also this time you have 3 really good goalkeepers, I guess Stekelenburg is the 1st choice and Krul is still the one for the future?
2012-05-21 16:45:12
I see Krul and Vorm as same level. They play at Newcastle and Swansea. Hard choice.
2012-05-21 18:10:50
Jack van Gelder said Bouma was tested as left back? :p

The Danish players so far... a few more will be selected on thursday once the Danish league finishes. Our biggest problem is the lack of real forwards. If Nicklas Bendtner is injured we don't have anyone the take over. Nicklas Pedersen from Groningen might be chosen, but he isn't really good enough.

GK: Thomas Sørensen (Stoke), Stephan Andersen (Evian), Anders Lindegaard (Manchester United)

Defenders: Lars Jacobsen (FC København), Daniel Wass (Evian), Simon Kjær (Roma), Daniel Agger (Liverpool), Andreas Bjelland (FC Nordsjælland), Simon Poulsen (AZ Alkmaar), Michael Silberbauer (Young Boys)

Midfielders: William Kvist (VfB Stuttart), Niki Zimling (Club Brugge), Christian Poulsen (Evian), Christian Eriksen (Ajax), Lasse Schøne (NEC Nijmegen), Jakob Poulsen (FC Midtjylland)

Forwards: Nicklas Bendtner (Sunderland), Dennis Rommedahl (Brøndby), Michael Krohn-Dehli (Brøndby), Thomas Kahlenberg (Evian), Tobias Mikkelsen (FC Nordsjælland)

And (hopefully) failed. He's too old and has lost much of his qualities the past couple of years.

@borkos: Stekelenburg is usually first choice, yes, but he has some shoulder problems. He'll probably be ready for the tournament, but if not, I'm thinking Krul will be 1st GK.
2012-05-21 21:10:29
I'd be worried that you have to select Bendtner!

Oh, for the days of Tomasson and Sand!
