Asunto: »[info]Dev Diary #82: Automatic release of NT-players from

2023-09-18 22:12:54
I'd like to add that is mostly Polish users who hide NT players' skills.
So, there must be something rotten in Poland..

There are few others, but Poles lead this trend by far.

the reason might be because

a. Polish users are around 30% of all users in game
b. there are lots of wealthy PL users that play just for training and buy many top level talents

The reason is irrelevant for small(er) countries.
Fact stays that for small countries the NT counts as the biggest influence for managers to keep playing (counting the really active managers, not the users who play this game like sonic the hedgehog...getting as far as I can on my own.)
I really recon the devs underestimate the importance of the NT in this game in general (and mainly outside Poland). and lots of Polish users too for that matter...

I think you might overestimate the actual interest in NT even in smaller countries - by interest I mean people who actually watch the games or talk about them

Even now in Belgium you have 17 votes out of 158 users... and 1 candidate for NT, 1 for u21

It's a similar case since a couple of seasons in most countries, barely anyone even wants to be a NT coach, the number of votes is extremely low, there are no forum discussion about NT games etc.

I know that some communities are interested in "training for NT" and that's great but I'm not sure that's the reason for playing
2023-09-18 23:50:51
Why is there only 1 candidate for our NT and U21?
Because it's the same guys for 5 seasons in a row now...
and all of our community stands as a whole behind them, and again...the really active ones, not the sonic gamers...
We have around 200 users now, but we also have much more people who play for our NT / U21 as an objective, not a side project, as there are voters.
Don't stare blindly to the voters, cause there's at least double the amount of Belgian managers who are training players for the U21 / NT, making sure that the training is optimal, over the results.
even our 1st division has at least 4 managers who place training over results! And you can raise that for 2nd division to almost 30% of all users and the same goes for 3th division.
So approx 4 + 12 + 36 managers on our first 3 divisions together, play for the main reason of training BELGIAN players.
Can you then say the NT isn't as important as we think it is?

"Why is there only 1 candidate for our NT and U21?"

I can tell you why.

Because I never considered running for your team, because both managers are Belgian.

I ran for the Israel U21 that has a foreigner running it now (and not even a PLUS member) and I'll probably still lose. THREE votes so far out of 17. The Israel NT election has 6.

"I think you might overestimate the actual interest in NT even in smaller countries - by interest I mean people who actually watch the games or talk about them"

I am curious about this too. I bet they have data somewhere.

In America, the full NT has 11/65 votes, the U21 7/65. I think the U21 number is downright insulting considering how much effort norbert puts into it season in and out.

LOL

I gave you the only reason to it in my previous post.
No point in boasting here :-p

Yeah, and I figure as much. It's just my philosophy not to try butting in on teams run locally. You guys surely have no shortage of talented managers there :)

My problem is that we have a really good U21 guy here, and I don't think I'm qualified enough to run a full/senior NT yet.

It's not about exp or qualifications, but what you actually do for the team, even if you ain't running as coach for the moment.
We've been building our team for about 15 seasons in a row now (maybe a couple less, but approx.)
Multiple managers buying and training players, for the sole reason of making them ready for the NT.
With the new training system, the amount of managers for this exploded! We went from 6 to 8 managers to 50+...all committed to train players, adjusted to the needs of the NT / U21 and making sure they all get at least 96% training each week.
Lots of them, and I'm one of them, have bought or recruited new staff (unearthly) to make sure that we did the best we can to boost the players to the maximum of their potential! So, again...we all love our green thursdays, but since the majority of those green skills are from Belgian players, I think it's fair to say we, as a community, do much more than considering the NT / U21 as a fun side project.

Does anyone actually watch the NT games, or do they only train the players?

Because training players is simply fun itself, almost everyone does that :-) I'm playing this game just for training

The fact that someone has 1 or 2 Belgians at training age and 8-9 other youths doesn't mean that he his sacrificing anything and training for NT... he is just training players like all users

I train 5 Polish players, do I do it for the NT? No, I don't

Once I trained best Belgian striker [first 3x superdivine ATT], I did it for myself, not for Belgium :-P

I haven't watched a single USA NT game. I don't see the point, I have no investment in youth school and no finances to buy those players.
2023-09-19 05:36:25
I guess it's langhes :P
2023-09-19 08:52:12
Nope, not him :p
2023-09-19 08:53:23
You did become the Belgian NT manager when Deroo was in his prime.

Which confirms the fact you only care about yourself and your own players.

Man, I never realized how selfish you are :p

We did the same (as close as possible).
I am sure there are a lot of closed communities in this game.
