Any news regarding 5 Subs? Would be nice to have a feedback as this is part of football in real life too.

5 subst really needed for many reasons:
- new training system
- injuries is more often now since the players plays 2 official matches per week plus nt
- fun of the game, you can make the matches more tactical based
- etc
and of course .. 7 bench places (so you can have 1 gk nd 2 def mid and att
Nice to have, more conditional places
My dream, but i know it is not possible, because the match result is calculated before playing actually the match, i would love to make tactical changes and substitutes during the game or at pause in real time. Again i know this is not possible, but in a dream feature who knows.

Perfect game to understand why more subs and slots are necessary: https://sokker.org/comment/matchID/39730556
Short description too: basically before the game setup was the following.
Both strikers would have been subbed at 75th minute.
What happened? --> one of the strikers (the youngest trainee of course) got injured. One of the supposed subs Ianchini comes in to replace the player.
Since he replaced NR 9 and took the place that the second substitute OCHOA should have been taken Ochoa subbed the player who came in on the 68th minute on the 75th... complete disaster. That could have been avoided with 7 subs slots and why taking out a fresh player in such situations. ''facepalm ''
More subs slots like even 10 would be good. And 5 official substitues should be available as in real life football no?
Check it out and you'll see what happened due to an injury case and pre setup 75th minute changes.

This happened to me more than once and is one of the many reasons why I opened this thread.

Well, lot of manager have a few really good players. They never make subs. Me too. If don't need I never changed in the old system. Now I started to change 1 or 2, if I leed with 2 goals to give chance for the youngers. But I won't make 5 subs.
So this developenet is not important for me.

OK, so for me the bigger issue with the substitutions is they are still, a decade later, as dumb as they were back when I last played.
If I want to add an attacking sub if I go down a goal, instead of ONE entry: Substitute player X for player Y at position Z, I have to do it 3 or 4 different times. Because instead of checking and doing it at say, 50 minutes or later, I have to put in 3-4 of the SAME entry, at different times (50' , 60', 70' for example).
It's pretty incredible that this is still a thing. At this point I would have thought subs would be more dynamic (meaning if I am down a goal at any point past the designated time, the sub would be made).
Instead, if I just put in one entry for time 50', and the game is tied then, but I go down a goal at 65', the sub is never made.

1) It's not about how many subs managers are making per game.. the idea is, that if a manager uses 2 or 3 changes per game, then if a player gets injury after let's say you all changes were made at 60' then you'll play with 10 or 9 against your opponent..
2) Since teams are playing 2 to 3 or even 4 official games per week, it's actually smart to have 5 subs that your players can rotate and play at their best level.
3) More Subs spots on the bench will never harm anybody, but gives more choice if you have 2 DEFS getting injury, then at least you don't have to enter a striker for DEF role.
4) It's implemented in real life football. And since it's football MANAGER game i think basic rules of soccer/football should match in game vs Reality.
There are a lot of games per week so more subs is completely important update.
It gives also more options for tactics and making an impact in a game. That's what managing is all about. Those who won't use it okay. But a lot of people probably would see it beneficial to increase subs number to 5 and bench number i don't know to 10or whatever number of players you have.

Yes and the nature of subs how they are implemented to ME should be reviewed as you have nicely provided example of complete madness.

Cool people are still discussing about this. Obviously necessary.

It all would be useful, realistic and easy to implement!
