Asunto: Fans expectations

2024-12-11 19:29:23
There's actually already a different expectations threshold between teams that have same (in theory) expectations, like "top half of table". For some 4th will be more fulfilling for fans than for others.

all I know is, not this season but last one...a whole slew of teams in ML were given 'top half of the league' expectations. 5, maybe 6 teams.
My team was the lowest one on that list. I thought perhaps this would make a difference.

I spent most of the time in second place that season. I had a stretch up top. I struggled to keep fans happy, and my stadium filled, with lower prices. I sat around 65-74% most of the league despite overachieving by any reasonable parameter.

This season, I've been OK, because Geston/devs re-ran the fan expectations profile that second time - and it lowered slightly for m. This season, I didn't have a problem. I stunk early, and fans treated me accordingly - that's fine :) They have also been madly happy the back quarter of these season, as they should be.

For the first time ever I'm not a favorite to win the Danish championship :o) Strangely enough, neither is anyone else:

Podium Falling Down
Podium FC BUUR
Podium Momitoz
Podium Fc Udskud
Podium Rishøj IF
Top half of the table teamgeist
Top half of the table team markmus
Top half of the table OLYMPIAKOS
Top half of the table Liverball FC
Top half of the table Valhal
Brave fight for any points Spangsbjerg IF
Brave fight for any points Bornholm Allstars

I don't know if this happens a lot, but it's a first for me. I'm not sure what to think of this. I mean, I get why the raw calculations might lead to this, but there's something unsatisfactory about not having a favorite for the championship? It looks even weirder for the Polish Ekstraklasa:

Vice-championship KS Polonia Skierniewice
Vice-championship FC Kryry
Vice-championship FC Bomagol
Vice-championship Zabujcze Strzały
Top half of the table WKS Zatorze
Top half of the table Jagiellonia Białystok
Top half of the table Dragon Ball
Top half of the table Żuraw Krzeszów
Top half of the table Piast Pawłowice
Top half of the table FC Fighters
Brave fight for any points SAN ESCOBAR
Brave fight for any points Anioły Zemsty

I also think it's a little odd that in both cases only 3 values are applied for leagues consisting of 12 teams. It used to be more varied.

there is always a favorite, it's the first team on list, but it might not always be clear favorite
2024-12-17 21:56:17
Aha, so they're weighed according to the actual position on the list? I didn't realize that.
2024-12-17 22:00:40
hmmm, maybe I should say that I think they is always a favorite, because I am not 100% sure about it :D
2024-12-17 23:14:29
I was led to believe this as well, but from my experience season before this past one, I'm not convinced it's accurate. IF it is working, it didn't for me back then.

Of course, now COULD be different. We'll see. I am 7th on the list in my league this coming season.

I feel friendly should have 0 effect on fans expectations.
My lost friendlies resulted in drop from 100% to 90% fans satisfaction with recent matches.
Of course, if in real life a team lost friendlies by 30 goals then fans would not be satisfied but in real life teams try not to injure each other and there is no need for corner tactic and training is separate from playing games.

Don’t play corner tactics then. There needs to be some consequence for basically using a loophole to maximise training. Let’s not go into this further. Corner tactics exist, people use them to get around potential injuries and there’s a whole thread for corner tactic friendlies only so a 23-0 result shouldn’t happen all too often.

Anyway there actually isn’t a big hit on friendlies when compared to league or cup matches anyway so I think it’s actually fine.

I had a 10% drop last season too after winning the double two seasons in row just by playing friendlies in off season. I didnt play corner tactic but just regular 2nd team.

Friendlies should have no effect whatsoever in expectation. I'd go as far as to say friendlies should be the matches that gives the best % of training just to incentivize people to compete in league, instead of promoting the idea of playing youngsters for a handful of minutes.

After all, you don't place players who're not ready for first team action to train in real life.

I have not had a single fan join me in 2 seasons, I am supposed to finish on the podium I came 3rd, so the programming lies to itself

you are probably at around 3000 supporters.
