Asunto: Auto-Bidding System in Sokker
this ignores the fact that auto-bidding would kill newer player interest as they'd never be able to buy anyone decent.
I really don't understand your point here.
Now:
You're bidding against another person, who wants to spend X, so in order to buy the player you must pay X + 1 bid.
With autobid:
You're bidding against a bot with max bid set to x, so in order to buy the player you must pay x + 1 bid.
Where do you see the difference in here? The only difference is that now your max price is in your head (it might be fluctuating during the bidwar but that's another topic) and with autobid the max price would be written up front, but still in theory the same. And still to reach the decided MAX price you must encounter another bidder willing to pay MAX price -1 / max price / max price +1 or more in order for the price to reach that amount.

The point is:
1. Shilling produces an effect not encountered here yet.
2. Mass shilling at a snap of a wrist.
3. Decreased legibility in the deciding stages of auctions, making complicated concurrent assignments tougher.

I have no idea what you mean by "shilling" in context of sokker / sokker transfers.
You mean buying undervalued players in order to push them for higher price? It's already possible (and up to a point countered by the new taxes) and yes, it would be much easier. At the same time automation could lead to much smaller amount of undervalued players since there would be much higher chance of bidding war (due to the fact that users would not have to be online) + meat traders could kill eachother by setting their autobids.
Anyway it would obviously have to be an extremely limited option, max 1 or 2 autobids set at same time, so it would not be any help for the traders, since they have to bid for multiple players in hopes that 1/xx gets sold below value.

The auction mechanics actually work.
It also keeps the manager online.
A waste of time, in my opinion.

I don’t like the idea, but I understand how some users from different timezones can be at a disadvantage, since most players get sold during their sleeping/working hours
I don’t think the mechanics work fairly at all. Unfortunately time zones are something you can’t have a fair system for all if you have to be online to participate unless you have roughly equal user sizes in each respective time zone (which this game does not have).
It also doesn’t keep those like myself online, it actually disengages us from using it because there’s only so many times one can look and realise that 90% of what they want is inaccessible without disrupting sleep cycles.
In its current state the transfer market is a waste of time for some of us.
A proper auto-bidder with well thought out restrictions could actually help out those in unfortunate time zones making the market actually fair. Idea needs to be thought through though to minimise any drawbacks that exist.

I'm in favour of auto bidding but I don't think it would help you much. I suspect what we'd end up with is a bidding system that kind of works in reverse, with big bids coming in early and then nothing until the final 10 minutes of the auction when it's exactly the same.
While I'm here though, I still want trigger bids. I want a player permanently on sale until my asking price is triggered. No more relisting, no more agreeing a price and having it reneged on.

Depends when the autobids kick in. If it waits until the last 2-3minutes before starting then it will act like the current system.
Where it will benefit users like myself is that we may be able to sell our players for more because we have a chance that someone in another time zone may have autobid on players when they are asleep.
I think an autobid system would increase prices of players but I think it also reduces the potential variance of prices for players due to time/date listed.
I’m not necessarily a huge advocate for it but I can’t see any other way to reduce the inequality when it’s one of if not the best form to generate revenue.

It would certainly help you as sellers. Having autobid not kick in until late is an interesting idea.
Trigger bids would prevent you getting ripped off as a seller.

Now, I like the idea of trigger bids. This would allow a buyer to make the bid at a time convenient for them.
If it's realized, it will surely be a Plus feature.
This is no minor detail.
This is no minor detail.
That would make it pay to win and surely this is not wanted by the owners / devs.
How is it pay to win...?
It's as much pay to win as plus training graphs
It's definitely much less pay to win than ability to watch your opponents games (no plus = no watching)

I've finally read this thread again and I'm not sure why there is concern over if two people set the same highest bid.
In the other game I play, this is how the autobidder works.
Player A (PA) static bid of 3
Player B (PB) sets autobid to 12...so the autobidder makes a bid of 4 (each bid must go up a minimum of 1)
Player C (PC) sets autobid to 12...so the autobidder makes a bid of 5
PB autobidder to 6
PC autobidder to 7
PB to 8
PC to 9
PB to 10
PC to 11
PB to 12
Happens automatically, at the time that the person sets their autobidder and takes less than 1 second.
Player A, C or D are always welcome to come back in and bid.
Generally what it allows is people to bid up to a certain point on players they can't attend an auction for OR to avoid the "wait 2 minutes" for a bid rubbish that happens, meaning they are more likely to sell at the time the seller wants
Now an online bidder at the time of bidding finish will still always have an advantage of being able to decide whether to jump back in to bid, but it does close the gap a bit.
It also helps stop sellers from being completely ripped off if they were just unlucky with who was online at the time/game crashing/laptop battery dying, but doesn't completely remove the bargains out there either
Of course, if you could make unlimited autobids, that would break the game, but limiting it to 1 for non plus and 2 for plus, would be a positive for the game
