Asunto: Israel U21 Thread

We played a U21 scrimmage today against our good friends the United States:

Due to the fact we have anywhere from 3-5 20 year olds starting for the Cup team, I held all of them out but Slouk on defense. Because we really are shallow on defense. Otherwise, I played only 19 year olds and 20 year old backups. Even future star Asher Eprhaim got to see a little action today. I felt like we did a surprisingly decent job in possession. First goal was a little bit of bad luck, second goal was just a great pass from the American side.

A more difficult match in the return to Malta tonight. They spent the first 60 minutes really 'parking that bus' - they had 6 players on defense today. If they had stayed that way we might have never scored, but the last 30 they went for the win and Bouron finally scored late to secure the 3 points. The match engine was not very friendly to us, I don't think our players broke a single tackle in the attacking zone today - and at least Bouron SHOULD have with the tech he's got.

edit: I removed it, but it's basically a middle finger formation :) Didiz has seen it lol.


Also, I played all 19 year olds today with the honest thought they would forfeit to us again. I wanted to get the kids experience for next term - these were some of our best prospects next cycle. I left our big scorer Bouron in just in case the game was played.

Our final match was a return match against Portugal today. The Israeli team fought valiantly, but were defeated 3-1.

We managed to hold Portugal to only 6 shots with our structure. Unfortunately, due to the consistent pace issues this defensive group had, most of those 6 shots were breakaways.
We had a couple of great chances of our own, but the Portuguese goalkeeper was up to the task.

I want to thank the three of you who voted for me to take over your team mid-cycle this year, and I look forward to seeing what we can do next cycle with a full two seasons of planning. As most of you already know, I've reached out to virtually anyone with a player and before today I removed most of the 21 year olds. These last two friendlies I'll get these kids some experience and we'll see if we can put Israel on the map, internationally, in Sokker :)

Absolutely. You guys took a chance on me, I want to stay and see what we can do with a full training cycle.

I will temporarily be keeping the 20 year olds on for depth, but they will not see any playing time unless injuries necessitate it. I intend on phasing them all out next season for 18-19 year olds as time goes on.

We have a friendly tomorrow against Italy. Nothing special going on... I'm in the hospital right now.

I've been in kidney failure for over four years now, and I just got a transplant Tuesday.

I'll probably be back home Monday :)
