Sverige - Ísland
Mini World cup 1/8 final and it is against Sverige which is very thrilling opponent for us! :)
We remember Sverige's current NT manager cambrant. He is former Ísland's NT manager just before me. Last season we beat cambrant's Sverige in friendly game 2-0 (both teams played with b-squads). We were underdogs back then and we still are... all the pressure belongs to our opponent!
Because cambrant told in Mini World cup -thread that he knows very well our players - I think it's better not to reveal our lineup here.
I hope that our journey continues! ;)
Result: Sverige - Ísland 4 - 3 (2 - 2)
Close match... when 90. minutes was played Ármansson had a great chance to score an equaliser, but opponents goalie saved.
My mistake was that I was planned to check out (saturday morning) Traustason's slight injury, but I forgotted that (he was healed). He is a player who might turn these kind of close matches around... :(
Other explanation... was slight injury for Haraldsson - after getting injured he was very slow.
Still marks shows what kind of underdogs we were in this game: Sverige 76.3 - Ísland 66.8. And if we look at the game - we can be quite happy how team played. Shots 8-6, ball control 48-52, area played 51-49.

Friendly match against strongly growing Indonesia.
Indonesia's ranking is lower than ours, but their marks are near 70. And their manager said that they needed a good opponent to play with their first squad. They are testing their quality against us, but we are playing now with our b-squad.
Our squad is not bad even our players are young (U26, except 1 player).
Defence will play quite low, because some defenders have low pace.
In midfield Skytturnar's Númason is the key player. Sebastiansson is a good ball handler and I think he will be threat for Indonesia's defence line.
Bjartmannsson returns between posts after injury (still 1 day left).
Randversson isplaying against Indonesia's central defenders with Bjarkason. I think Yngvarsson (or Svanlaugsson) will replace him in second half.

defense dont play good.... and sometimes i feel like we play without mids... Indonesia play better but maybe if Yngvarsson will play full match result will be different...

We had very bad start and just like Assurubanipal said our defence didn't play well. One reason is that we had slow wingbacks - that's why they came up too slow and offiside trap didn't work. There was too much space behind our central defs and opponents strikers used that well.
And of cource we could play these games allways with our first squad, then we would have enough quality midfielders. Currently our b-squad midfield is light for this kind of games. But those guys are really promising: Númason (first team mid allready), Bjarkason, Valdimarsson, Sebastiansson and so on... I wan't to give them NT games and extra boost for training.
In first half it looked that my tactic really sucks... but second half was completely different. That's why I don't want to say that tactic was reason for this defeat. Ok, it could be (should be) better. :=)

Currently too low form for NT games, but still played nicely (one goal & assist).

Steady performance: good passing and didn't loose balls. Very equal performance with Númason.

Goalie: We have very good situation with our young goalkeepers Bjartmansson (23yo), Þorbergsson (22), Garðarsson (22) and also Freyrsson (25).

Defence line: Here are all U24 defenders (+our sub-def Gabrielsson). They will get plenty of minutes in future.

Midfield: We have decent midfielders who just don't fit into lineup. It's interesting to see how this situation will change, but this time my choices are here. Valdimarsson has slight injury and low form - otherwise he might be the best midfielder in this age group. I think he will be replaced if he is not fit tomorrow. Arnbergsson is only 22 yo!!!
