Asunto: Ísland U21

In Group H's last match, we won 1:0 against Kenya U21 after a goal from our top scorer, Orlygsson! In another match of our group, South Africa U21 lost 2:4 to Bolivia U21 and we moved up to 4th place in the table! We scored a total of 12 points. I think this is our success. Before the tournament, we were drawn from 5 pot. In the last four qualifying rounds, Ísland U21 was placed 5th to 6th. We've improved these results. Now it's time for the friendly matches and building our Ísland U21 squad for the next World Cup qualifying round. I believe in progress and i have the motivation.

We're building a team for the next season. The age of players will change on Friday. Yesterday we lost 0:1 in the U20 friendly match against Andorra, who was ranked higher.. We played well tactically, we had an advantage, our strikers fired 20 shots, but we didn't score. Our 18yo Vilberg Theódórsson, Óskar Eysteinnsson and Dagbjartur Dórason made their national debut.

Most of them are players from Stjarnan F.C. Unfortunately, the manager of this team doesn't log in and I don't know the skills of his players. I hope he will come back to the game and train our young Icelanders.

Yesterday the age of the players changed and we played with U20 squad against Kazakhstan U20. We won 5:1! Hattrick was scored by Þórmóður Orrason, and as many as 3 assists by Jónharður Ólason. Björn Ingi Eyþórsson scored his first national goal. I add that Úlfur Fúsason, Rafn Daðason and Baldvin Ársælsson made their debuts in this match. Þórlakur Kristinsson couldn't have played on the third yellow card. I am satisfied with the game and with the effectiveness.
I add that three 21yo who have no chance of matches this season left the national team yesterday.

Today, young 19yo defender Andri Hrafnsson from Stjarnan F.C replaced Arnfinnur Nonnason. I don't have his skills yet, but he has high value, wage, and plays on a 40 mark on the defensive side. He will definitely be a strengthening of our team.
During the season our team will be joined by players from youth schools and players aspiring to the national team who will improve their skills.

On Friday we played again with the U20 squad and after a very good match we lost to strong Sweden 1:2, which is ranked 23 places higher than us. We were close to a draw. Unfortunately, Orrason missed a penalty in 87'. We gain experience. I'm glad that we played on average ratings of 40.1 (higher than in the last match against Kazakhstan). Defender Andri Hrafnsson (19yo) made his debut in the match against Sweden. Two talented players have joined the team this week: Hrafnkell Þórvaldsson, 18yo defender from the new ST team and progressing 19yo midfielder Arngrímur Randversson from Skytturnar. Next Friday we will play against much higher ranked New Zealand. We will test a new tactic.

Yesterday we lost friendly match against strong opponent : New Zealand U20 - Ísland U20 3:0. We played a new tactic 5-3-2, set defensively. Even so, we had 6 shots, but we didn't score. We have to improve the defense game, our defenders are not of an international level, but I want to change that, so I train defender skills for 10 our players. 18yo defender Hrafnkell Þórvaldsson made his debut in the team. This week, three new players: Valur Haraldsson (18yo), Jón Bjarni Kolbeinsson (19yo) and Ólafur Helgi Tinnason (17yo) have joined the NT. Next friday we will play another match against the higher ranked opponent, Panama U20.
